Last night I was mining in a belt and wanted to open one of my friends cargo containers from a rat he killed when we were not in a fleet.
I changed my status to open the container and take the items.

With about 1 min left on my suspect count down, I was surrounded and destroyed by a bunch of dudes.

Poor little mining frigate.

I just want to say how cool and fun the crimewatch mechanic is. Of course, it stinks to lose a ship but what a fun way to die.

I just had to say good job CCP on the new system. (being serious not sarcastic)

You can thank Team Five-0 and friends for deciding that carebears needed a boost and highsec should police itself. Now instead of flagging a person to another person and a corp, you get flagged to all ~300,000 players in the game. Because, you know, that's like basically the same thing.

CCP mostly sucks at their job, but Veritas is a pretty cool dude.

Would he have been flagged if he had been in a fleet?

Thank you Punkturis (and friends)!!

I was not sure totally how it worked at first, but I thought it was cool that people were flying around looking for suspects to kill. I mean, it kinda stinks that I had to flag my char to all players in the game just to open a container, but there were other ways to do that without getting flagged.

I just think it brought more dynamics into the game. I am sure not everyone feels the same, but from what I experienced it was pretty cool.

Well, I was in his fleet. But I was not in the fleet when he killed the Rat in the system.

So, if I was in the fleet when he killed the Rat, I would not have been flagged.

The mechanic is there (fleets) to allow you to take things. However as has been said many times, wrecks are tagged with their owner, corp and fleet at creation, so if they were no in a fleet when they popped it, then oh well.

You could always have asked the person to give it you...

Did CCP do away with the "abandon wrecks" option then?

New Crimewatch, Kill rights and Gate Gun mechanics make low sec awesome now.

My favorite thing is to pop a killright on a + sec status guy on a gate cuz he thinks that the gate guns will help kill me if I attack him.

I do want to point out one "abuse" thing I did see however. *snipped*

Yes I was aware and so was he. I just kinda wanted to see what happened and how it worked from a non-textbook scenario. Kinda just wanted to experience how it worked first hand.

I just thought it was a well thought-out idea (mechanic) and saw and experienced the functionality of it.

Since I normally see bashing posts on this and that, I thought it might be refreshing for players and CCP alike to hear a more positive opinion.

Also, no one trashed talked anyone. The people out suspect hunting just said in local " suspect has been terminated", and then we all had a good laugh... (at my expense of course).

Hey, all in all, it is a game and there are things we all like and dislike.

Well then,

Thank you Team Five-0 !!

I do think what I have learned and experienced so far is pretty awesome and a good improvement. I mean, just the fact that people are out looking for suspects is cool in itself. I am not sure if they were scanning or cloaked or whatever, but it left me with a warm feeling inside (and a hole in my wallet :)

It inspired me to learn more of the PVP side and start training some more skills to go down that path. I currently do not have many "attack" skills so I was reluctant to undock and do anything. Mostly because it would be fruitless, but like I said it gives me more motivation to try a different side of the game.

Reminds me of Yahtzee's review of "Guild Wars 2" ... "Forming parties has always been the hardest part of MMORPGs, so they took a novel approach - the whole server is a party and everyone's invited!"

I have not played Guild Wars 2 (yet) but I have only heard good things about it.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not relating it back to EVE though..

You know, I was just thinking. Is there a way to duel someone without flagging as a suspexct to everyone?

Like say, a friend and I want to fight one another for practice or see how something functions etc... can that be done without alarming everyone to come and kill me ?

Nope.

Make a midwarp bookmark or bookmark some agent mission. Both of you warp there, have your fun, wait till the flag(s) expires and leave the bookmarked site.

Thanks, yeah that is what I thought. It makes sense, and I am not that crazy about some dueling system.

I was just curious.
