Ship choices for lo-sec (maybe some WH) solo PVP... advice?

Ok, so yes I am on an alt (Cause I want my main to remian, well, anonymous). The scenario is this: I am looking to get back into PvPing aftter being out of game for about 2 years. The bulk of my previous PvP was 0.0 alliances and some small BS gang PVP in losec/nullsec back in/around 2005-2007. My main toon is mainly Gallante/Minni with 100M+ SP and has all classes and guns trained up through T2 Large and BS 5 in both races and also has pretty much perfect drone skills (~21m SP in drones).

What interests me now is lo-sec, solo PvP with possibly some jaunts into WH up to oh say C3 for fun and frolicing with the natives. I have some isk so I am not necessarily wanting the cheapest fit possible but I dont want to blow my wad just for the sake of pimping my ride for *****-n-giggles. I am not afraid to spend a little extra on a mod if the payoff in benefit is worth the outlay compared to the overall value/effectiveness and survivability of the hull.

My thoughts are for Lo-sec to pretty much be purely solo: Stations, gates, belts, the usual. I have a few alts that can fly probers to hunt for L4 mission runers if I get too bored. I am expecting to be able to beat most anything 1 on 1 and be able to survive up to 2 or 3 v/s 1. (I understand skill is involved and its not ONLY the ship, but I want a ship that can survive this level of engagement IF I fly it correctly)

For WH my thoughts were to use the alt in a cloaky prober cov-ops to find juicy targets, then set up a warp in on them for my main to come in and bring the beer to the party.

Ships I am considering are:

Sleipnier with Dual ASB and 220 Vulcan II's
Astarte with dual reps and nuetron/ion (whichever fit) blasters
Proteus (lawl I dont know shiz about them except all the EFT crafting and Battleclinic arguments)
Loki (See notes on proteus)
Navy Domi with nuets and lots of drones.

I am of course not locked into these choices as I would love to hear thoughts on fits and tactics about ships that you have personally found to be successful in the roles I want to deploy them in. I am grateful to all replies but as I said I would prefer replies about ships that you have successfully used on the field in a solo capacity... I can theorycraft as good as the next guy with EFT.

Sincere thanks for taking the time to read this and gratitude for any meaningful replies.

Sleipner is a good choice. Sac as well. Zealot can be too. Or even a Cyclone. I would say Sleip though. Unless you plan on not taking gate fire if that is the case then go with the Myrm.

Gate guns don't shoot drones anymore! Seconding the Myrm for general usage as you'll get the most fights, though Sleip is quite nice.

Buy a bunch of T1 cruisers and get a feel of the current meta in lowsec first, shake the rust off a bit?

I can't think of any ship that will handle most 1vs1s or 1vsManys, every ship has a counter.

Most stick to T1 ships, faction frigs/cruisers or AFs in lowsec, because unexpected happens and you'll have just as good fights in them as you'd have in something shinier. Idk, there's so many ships that work for general roaming, that it really comes down to your personal preference, what kind of combat you like and know best.

For wormholes, however, I'd choose the trusty cloaky Proteus. You can engage most things in it, and covert ops cloak helps you actually get to targets. Generally hunting people in wormholes it often not just as simple as "probe em and warp on them", guys who live there are married with dscan and know how this gankery business works. You, the hunter, might actually be the hunted without even realizing it.

Of course, derp is a renewable, abundant natural resource in EVE, so ymmv.

Thanks for the replies, I had thought about the myrm but wasnt sure of proper fit, basically massive tank and drone boat with nuets? kind of a mini-Nueting Domi?

For the love of god man fly a nano shield Talos! 800-900 DPS, can hit out to 50KM with Null L, and can track like non other. What in the hell are you waiting for!?

If you want something that can dish out hurt as a BS a good old neut Phoon is the way to go. My setup can cap out a BC in two cycles and still push 1000 DPS and 186k EHP with LG slaves. It's a beast of a ship.

Assuming true solo (cloaky proteus is great with a probe alt), the proteus and astarte are out because it's too easy to be kited and/or neuted. I wouldn't recommend the domi just because BS solo pvp is usually a disaster waiting to happen (at least until you're familiar with the area).

Myrmidon is a solid ship, but usually has to commit to the fight. Expect to kill a fair bit, but expect to die a fair bit.

The sleipnir is a great ship (not sure about dual ASB since the nerf), but very expensive. I also wouldn't fly this until you're familiar with the area.

Loki has a much better engagement profile due to it's ridiculous buffer, capless guns, and dual webs, but you're going to find pretty much no one who WANTS to engage you. You will also be even more of a blob target than a solo sleipnir.

On the BC front, a shield talos or shield cane could be exactly what you're looking for. Read up on tier 3s some before flying the talos and remember that frigates are bad news.

Personally, I'd recommend a cynabal for now. It can't kill tankier things, but it's about as close to invulnerable as you can get. It will be great for flying around for a few days/weeks and learning the area and people around you while being hard to kill and still being able to kill lots of stuff.

Alternatively, buy a ton of the new t1 cruisers and just tackle everything you see.

when i solo i am generally using ships that can engage alot of stuff lately the shield nano thorax (t1 blaster vaga) has been great also love the triple rep myrmidon try to find a ship you would feel comfertable engage as much as possible with.

its hard enough to find a fight sometimes, try to maximize the ammount you find.
