Also, seriously...some of you obviously don't have kids.

My kindergartner has brand preference and can repair his Lego toys by himself. My eight-year-old's two favorite toys are:

http://starwars.lego.com/en-us/m/products/details/9493.aspx

and

http://starwars.lego.com/en-us/m/products/details/9492.aspx

He put them together himself, and when necessary tears them down and rebuilds them himself. He'll be getting his first Mindstorm kit when he's 9.

those things are awesome. I built one that could navigate and map out any area as long as it had the battery power to do so. it would turn when it ran into obstacles, it would prevent itself from falling down stairs, and could climb over anything that would pass under the bump sensors.

The Delorean looks pretty nice, but I don't know about the smooth surfaces on the top and sides. How the hell are kids supposed to add extra wings and laser guns and lego man mounting points without any free lego stubs poking out What?

Delorean looks too blocky and big :(

Gah... too bad. I would have bought the Rifter. My Reaper most likely does not have a chance then if they complained how flimsy the Rifter was. When I own my Reaper made out in real Legos I'll possibly end up making the instructions public.

It was a good run though.

Frankly I think Lego is missing out. They fail to realize that the base customers that made them what they are today are the people like us in our 20s-40s, not the little kids they are trying to pander to right now. I am sure there is a huge market for Lego's with adults. They just need to broaden their horizons a bit. As someone else so aptly stated in this thread...their loss.

You are sorely mistaken if you think that a $500 Millenium Falcon is aimed at children.

The niche you are envisioning for EVE-themed sets (starships for adult collectors at a premium price point) is already firmly covered by Star Wars.

Everyone knows Star Wars and despite George Lucas' best efforts most older Lego collectors are probably feeling nostalgic about episode 4-6. Star Wars reminds them just as much of their childhood (or of what they wish their childhood had been like) as Lego does. A perfect match.

Why would you replace that established line of Lego sets with some newfangled franchise that probably less than a million people have ever been involved in?

There is no point in confusing customers by offering them competing products that fall in the same niche and an EVE-themed set would compete directly with the Star Wars-themed collector sets. There can be no serious doubt that the latter are a much better choice for Lego.

Come back in 20 years when EVE is as widely known and evokes the same feelings of nostalgia as Star Wars, Batman or Back to the Future do today and Lego might listen.

Only induces nostalgia if its dead, no, in 20 years eve will be the hippest, most mainstream game ever, and it will have NO HIGH/LOW, 50k WH systems, and the goons will have disbanded from EvE in favor of MLP Online.

Ok, serious now, no trolling.
Since lego drop the ball at rifter, is it possible to the maker release the project to us?
I mean the list of piece he use and the step by step to put the Rifter together.
I am not a good lego builder, but if he releases the scheme to build it, I can buy the pieces and ask for my son to build it.
I really would like to make it, it a very nice ship and a very appealing ship to put at my work desk and kill my friend of envy

Megablock models are utter garbage. Seriously rubbish quality and everything seems to be custom moulded. That's not what Lego is about.

Also it's LEGO. Not LEGOS. There is no S on the end. LEGO.

It'd be nice to have the instructions to build the Lego Rifter though. I have ****-tonnes of the stuff and I'm pretty sure I'd have all the necessary blocks. Please do it oh mighty Czar!

Now that's bullshit. I would have bought like three boxes of the Rifter and make my own LEGO fleet.

When Bon Scott died and he appeared before St. Peter at the gates of Heaven, St. Peter looked at his record and told him he couldn't get in. Just then, God screams at Peter, "Let him in, Karen Carpenter is driving me nuts. I want to hear some music with balls. We'll haggle over the paperwork later." At least I hope that's what happened.

LEGO officially sucks now.

Tomorrow I burn all the LEGO in the house and go out and buy "Happy Makey Blox" or whatever instead.

It is a sad day. Sad
