How do you set up your PI Factory Planets?

I'm currently making broadcast nodes on my main but decided to have an alt train PI so the main isn't tied down to one area and can I can do missions with him further away from my home systems.

In the process I would like to streamline my current system but I am realizing that doing all my P3 on one planet may not be possible. I am currently at CC 4 and am training to CC 5 but I am not sure the extra 2000 of grid is going to be enough to help.

How do you do it so it makes sense ISK wise (with imports and exports) but isn't a hassle with constantly having to transport goods back and forth from planet to planet?

The reason it was working for me in the past was that two of the P2 that was needed were being imported in rather than created on the factory world. But this proving to be an obstacle so I was hoping to just import the P1.

If I had a factory planet that made all the P2 and then exported that to another factory planet that makes the P3 and P4 would that make sense financially? That would be import/export fees on P1 and P2 and export fees on P4 plus a lot of running around. Ugh this is such a hassle. Sometimes I curse myself for even getting into farmville in space.

Or would I be better off just lowering the amount of factories pumping out the P2 so I could fit the P3 and P4 on the one planet? Less efficient but less hassle. Blargh.

For P2 and P3 production, I prefer to run (3) LPs and (18) AIFs, each LP has 6 AIFs attached and the whole world makes the same thing in all 18 factories. Bring down 12960+12960 of P1 to each of the LPs, come back in 54 hours.

I have a little spreadsheet where I plug in the amount of m3 that is available in the LPs, it rounds down and tells me how many units I need to bring to the colony to fill it back up (without having a weird amount of inputs left over). Since a 3/18 setup runs for 54 hours before running dry, I fill it up every other day.

Others run a 2/20 or 2/22 setup, which requires daily maintenance but gives a bit of extra production each day.

The more LPs you have, the less often you have to move product around, but the less you'll make per day.
