They are my favorite unit.

Did you know Airship Bombers that raided London were actually a thing in WW!. Not a very effective thing mind you, RA2 exaggerates the lift capability they only carried about 2-6 tons of bombs. These were big ships nearly 100 built for the war, around 150-200m+ long each, they flew above where bi-plane fighters could reach, were faster then planes at the time, had considerable machine guns in a time when they were strapped onto planes and even if you filled them full of holes they would easily stay aloft to reach friendly skies. Then better engines came along and incendiary rounds. They were full of Hydrogen since helium comes only from the United States. Basically... Boom!

One of my favorites little trivia pieces is the observation car. As they had to fly very high to avoid enemy fighters that but them above the clouds and they were Bombers so they needed to see their targets. They literally lowered a capsule down over 100m on a rope below with a chair, map, compass and telephone. Imagine having that job.

Over 50 Raids were conducted by these massive ships until they figured out how to stop them.
