So how can you profit from this? Buy, buy, buy, buy. Wait a few weeks, then sell..

No. Try a few months. Or maybe a full year. Sure, you will be correct in the long run. But the time frame is very unlikely to be anything near what you claim.

you do realise, with how few minerals you need to make these frigs to begin with, that the stockpiles are that large you're going to be waiting months, or potentially years to see a return on this kind of thing.

****, look at mining barges, they take more minerals and they're still selling below build price a few months after the rebalance.

You have failed to take into account isk/hour for those of us who built these pre-patch. Building 400 frigs was something like 25 days, for 20-30mil potential profit. In that same time, building low end profit cruisers, like the vexor, which yielded around a 1.5 mil profit from the old build price you would have built about 200 in that time, and profited 300mil. Anyone with a calculator and a brain didnt waste their time building many frigates. I only built 400 (of each) for the heck of it

The price of these ships is fluctuating. Study the graphs and you will see some people are just buying them for the long term. If you have time to spend and some liquid ISK then set buy orders and sell orders. The margin is pretty wide if you consider the price over the last week. It's a matter of hundreds of millions profit for modest work if you work with ~1B.

It is incorrect to assume all players who have a ton of ISK want to make more ISK quickly with lots of trading or other work. Perhaps some of them want to make more ISK without having to do anything else than whatever it is they like to do in this game? Then there is inflation. Buying anything tangible, whether it is a stack of logi frigs or a stack of PLEX, will be a good long term investment. This is why people buy gold and silver in RL.

It's pretty simple. It's a waiting game. If you have gobs of ISK, there is no reason not to buy in. If you don't, then don't.

If you have gobs of ISK, you'd still be better off finding other investments, as I pointed out.

I'm sorry, but a 100%+ profit on any time scale is a good investment. If you got 100% interest from your bank in a year, I'd ask you who you were banking with.

As other have pointed out, it was a much better use of your ISK and slots to manufacture cruisers pre-Retribution. That doesn't mean a bunch of dumbs didn't do so, but the sharps have their money elsewhere. This should mean a shorter turn around on logi frigs than the skeptics believe. Only time will tell.

Here's a point of view from a customer

FC : Oh, Logi frigates are going to be authorised for our home defense fleets

Me : OK. I'll get some

Now, roughly half our home defense fleets welp half their ships. About a fifth of the people in a HD fleet might use a logi frig. So thats maybe one a day blown up out here., in our little third of Branch . Mu guess is call it a hundred a day will be blown up thru null (killboard analysis over time will confirm this, one way or another).

I can see them blowing up in slosh ops, lolfleets and T1 roaming gangs. I can see noobs flying them.

I cant see them being blown up quickly in the thousands in Null.

In FW, they wont get you on killboards, or chunks of bounties, so they wont be that common.

I cant see them flown by mission runners or minors, or in wormholes.

In short, I wouldnt want to own 10k of them.

Postscript : as well, a Navitas is 2500m3 packaged. So moving them to Null will cost ~500k by Jump Freighter ... any that currently exist in Jita cant compete with compressed minerals.
