CCP has lots of PLEXES bought years ago that will supply the market (they practice PLEX buying in our days, so..). Don`t think 500 mil is valid for this year. They won`t accept another hit to their login players no. with high PLEX prices.

Expect them to fall under 400 again. This is my prediction.

How are they going to make them fall without giving out free game time?

Players who have invested to plex sell their plex to get profit... price starts going down after the peak has reached... as with any other product.
Also players who buy plex with real money to get iskies, tend to buy more plex when they get good price from them in in-game market...
Plex price goes up and down... sometimes more, sometimes less... nothing new.

See you say that, but it doesn't actually answer my question.

How are CCP going to force lower prices without giving out free game time?

Think about it. CCP can produce as much ISK as they want.
CCP can buy as much PLEX as they desire.
It is an automated process, made by CCP alts related to specific software. It is simple, it is efficient. This way PLEX don`t drop and don`t rise.

Are you serious? CCP wants plex skyhigh, they are trying to push all the freeloaders into paying accounts... Shocked

Actually you are all a bit right and wrong. Higher plex prices in game means that it is more attractive for players to buy GTC and convert them then sell for ISK. This means more income for CCP. Add to that there will be a few who have been using PLEX to keep an account going that will switch to a monthly in the hopes that prices will drop once again and they will not lose training time. Either way high in game prices for PLEX is more money in CCPs pocket.

As far as CCP intervention goes it will not happen until it gets almost to the point that PLEX prices are so high that the folks buying them in game drop out of the game due to inability to pay for them. At that point the law of supply and demand should cause the price to drop and CCP will need to do nothing. Should CCP intervene in this situation at all they will use alts/npcs to start undercutting real players in plex prices forcing the players to react with an ensuing price war to the benefit of the buyers. I do not think they will do this because as I said high in game prices for PLEX benefit CCP. If they ever do anything it will be artificially inflating the in game PLEX price after a drop and a price war by buying up enough PLEXes the price stabilizes or even goes up to where folks feel it is lucrative to once again buy GTC and convert for sale in game.

Keep in mind CCP wants and needs to make money and they do this with GTC and subscriptions. If they can increase sales of either it increases income and lets face it subscription have dropped so it benefits CCP to make the buying of GTC and converting to PLEX lucrative in game.

Valid isk price for plex can be only obtained by converting it to time. This time is different for every player. You have to ask yourself "How long would I be willing to spend time doing what I do to gain enough iskies to buy 30 days game time?". If you can afford the plex in that time, the price is low enough. If you can't, you should be buying the plex (or game time) with real world currency.

I am betting this is due to people like myself who have never paid with plex, but are now unwilling to spend real money on this game until CCP fixes it, and are using our ISK stores to buy game time. Can't say for sure, but I am willing to bet that is one of the big reasons for a higher than usual demand.

Thats not why and I betcha any money if you read the forums you can figure it out.

Nothing unusual about the spike, exactly like the buildup before Incarna release. Expectations are high for winter expansion, the question is: will CCP deliver.

After Incarna release and NEX failure plex dropped dramatically within days. Now, this can happen again if winter expansion fails, but plex prices can go higher if its a success, as demand would be high (reactivations) for some time before supply could catch up.

You do realise that they make more money on those PLEXes than if the same people paid subscription fees, right?
