-The Past-
Random guy from corp I don't know yells in unrestricted militia channel "I'm tackled at X gate!!"
Fly to X gate to try to help.
WT blob at X gate with tackle both sides.
Random guy was a spy.

-The Present-
"F**k the random guy..."

My advice - fly with people, make friends, kill wts, lose ships, support others, provide intel, then you'll get the support you ask for.

As a general rule I tend to find that by the time people realize they are losing a 1v1 there is no time left to save them. This is especially true on gates. Because if you have enough time to de-agress and go trough the gate you don't need to shout for help. You can simply go trough the gate. If you don't have a minute to spare then I probably wouldn't arrive in time anyway.

Secondly, and this is meant in the friendliest way possible, your death is meaningless to me. In the time of writing this message at least 10 ships got blown up somewhere in eve, and in this hour I'm pretty sure a corp buddy got his ship exploded as well.

If you are roaming solo, then be in the mindset of a solo pilot. Don't depend on others. Either accept an ill chosen fight for what it is, or make sure you can GTFO. Roaming solo means losing ships. Lots of ships. A few months back I decided that the scram/web executioner was a nifty ship for solo. So In the span of a month I lost about 40 of them.

Only a very few of those are losses I don't like. All the others where either chosen risks in which I knew I only had a very small chance of survival, or where I failed to acquire enough intel and got killed by a opposing fleet either trapping me or happened to stumble on me.

If you dislike losing lots and lots of ships you should either get some alts for enhanced solo'ing (i.e. scout alt/falcon alt/links) or find a corp to join and do fleet stuff.

Basically, you need to learn to play.

In all seriousness you can't expect people to come running to help you when;
a) you are not fleeted up with them
b) you are a couple of month noob shouting for help in local
c) they don't have a full tactical awareness of the situation

I've had numerous people shouting for help, sometimes I got to have a look, usually its a bait trap which is why I warped in at 100km as was expecting that. The other times they don't give any good intel on the situation and so it's impossible to make any informed decision on whether my ship will actually make any difference or just die horribly.

So in essence I would give you this advice. Join a corporation or roaming fleet, that way people can actually warp to your exact location and there is already some degree of trust. You will find a couple of people who will be willing to join you even if you just find them in local. Secondly think about joining a corporation and find some wingmen to fly alongside you, they will help teach you the ropes and you will learn some valuable and much needed experience.

If you fly solo, then expect to die solo, as the poster above says, no one really cares about the loss of your rifter if you choose to set of solo and get yourself into a bad situation. If you get to the point where you are shouting in local for help then it's already to late.
