I was trying to sell overdrives in Rens, when I spotted a good order to sell to. I sell it to him, but instead of the profits being added, the order is fulfilled, but all my stuff appears on the market! Can anyone explain what just happened?

Hmm, generally your instant sell should have gone to the highest bidder, UNLESS the quantity didn't match, then it would have left a few on the market at that price.

or if you clicked advanced, and changed the price it may have over ridden it.

double check your wallet,

also SOMETIMES editing the sale in advanced (makes you pay brokerage fees) you can end up loosing money (it will be red lol)

and with the case of plex editing the price to match just slightly lower than the current lowest sell order,

or slightly higher than highest buy order, after the taxes you end up making just a tad bit less than if you had instant sold to highest DEPENDING< always play around with the settings and see what gives you the most money.

The buyer was asking for 3300 overdrives, and I soid them to him , he was also in the same station. By your logic, there shouldn't have eben any problem, as the market set it up fine.

There is a counter to this technique, but it requires knowing who has set up the buy order. If you transfer enough isk to the buying character then they will have enough in escrow and their wallet to cover the buy order when you sell the item.

I actually almost fell for that my self. I forget what it was for some officer item tho, I didn't check the contracts, but saw that there was one for sale for 440 million, BUT the contract said selling for 1 billion, and the buy order had 1.2 billion, I almost thought about buying it on the market and insa selling it as I new the buy order was there but I was on my alt without the money lmao, so I was lazy and didn't, BUT I never realized you could place a buy order essentialy without the actuall amount needed, I thought the skill was only like the taxes or something

so ya that's is what happened, is "Went thru" but was canceled due to them not actually having th money for the buy order in there wallet, so their order got cancelled and they got there escrow back and you couldn't sell.

Any post especially in jita about " look at his contract, so under priced lol, buy it I don't have the isk" is a scam, if you knew the winning lotto numbers to come but didn't have a dollar to buy a ticket, you wouldn't tell people the numbers, youd keep ur mouth shut and try and get the money lmao

You made two mistakes.
1: falling for a margin scam.
2: pacing an advanced sell order, when simple sell would have been the way to go.

Working as intended, read what the sell order dialog actually says...

As a rule, assume that any buy oder above a quantity of 1 is a margin trade scam.

Sure there might be exceptions and whatnot but if you want to be on the safe(r) side, this.

That's my thought as well, that it was a Margin Trading skill scam.

What's the point of doing that?

One way to outsmart the the margin trade scammer is to be aware that - without further manipulation - there is ISK in the buy order, at worst (at Level V) about 24% of the offered price.

So, if you sell to the scammer at below this value, the order should pass and you get those 24%.
If it would still be profitable to sell at 1/4th of the offered price is another question, of course.

HOWEVER, do not blindly rely on this, I heard that there are ways to bring the money in the escrow down even further to the point where there is nothing in there...

another thing that threw me off was the fact that sometimes the mouse over on your wallet is delayed and you have to actually open it to see the funds added this happened to me a few times when selling
