Steam key

I was wondering something

Can the steam key you get from buying EVE on steam, be used to add extra game time? I'm guessing it's probably a no.

If I'm not mistaken, a trial account can be updated with it though? Correct? So if I send a friend (or use it myself for an extra account) a 21 day trial, the steam key could be used, updating the account with an extra 30 days. But from what I understand the person sending the buddy link will not get game time or PLEX reward.

Reason why I'm asking is because of the steam sale and I have half a mind of buying a few keys just to make my friends try it out :D

Cheers

A Steam key can NOT be used to add game time to an already existing paying account.

It can only be used to create a new account or upgrade a trial account to a full account.

And no, using a Steam key on a buddy invite offer means that the guy who invited you won't get any reward.

You can not add it for game time.

You can use it to upgrade a trial account. Just did this yesterday for myself :D You will not get the buddy rewards though.

Yup, I saw that but it's not like the buddy reward is something I desperately need. What I do need is get my friends to play eve with me :D

Thank you both for the fast reply!

EDIT: An extra question: Does anyone know wether or not those codes expire? I can see myself buying a bunch and handing them out in the future (Can't really pass up a 5 bucks deal)

I have never known a steam key to expire...but I could be wrong!
