According to description, salvage drones have a 3% innate salvaging chance and their related skill increases this chance by 2% per level.

Does this mean Salvage Drone Operation V increases salvage chance to 3.3% or 13% ?

Thanks in advance for all answers.

It would also be nice if they would auto salvage on blue wrecks as well.

Pretty sure it's 13%.

Edit: But you're right, it seems weird that it would be expressed that way when the Archaeology, Hacking, and Salvaging skills are written differently.

Felt the need to ask for clarification for that reason and PYFA displaying 3.3% at level V skill. Hope next expansion focuses on improving description consistency.

I wouldn't be surprised with 3.3% since we're talking per drone here.

According to this data taken from cache:
http://evefit.org/db/itemInfo/3440#modifiers

The skill adds to the drones, not multiplies. Which means the current pyfa build is wrong, will fix this for tonight's build :)

Question: is there a minimum skill requirement for certain wrecks like with salvager modules?
I was trying to get an elite frig wreck with skill level 3 and nothing happened with 5 drones for like 10 minutes.

Even with maximum skills you get 13% out of the drones. That's not enough for the hard stuff. Salvage drones are OK for clearing mission wrecks ((most) DED sites too) but that's about it. If you want to loot everything get that T2 salvager module.

That doesn't answer my question at all.

Actually it does. Just not in the way you expected. Saying that there is a minimum level to salvage any given wreck is not quite accurate because it's not about the level but the %-chance. I guess it's easier for some people to think about a certain level rather than think about the percent numbers.

Let's see if I can draw a picture.

Let's say you have salvaging skill at level 2 and salvage drone skill at level 3, that makes your chances of salvaging a wreck with a salvager module 15% and with a salvaging drone 9% per attempt. Some wrecks are more difficult to salvage than others because they have a built in malus to salvaging them. Regular NPC rat wreck no malus, T2 player frigate -10% (no idea if that is the actual value, but you get the point)

You can salvage that wreck with the module because your skill - malus is still above zero (5%). Your salvage drones on the other hand would be useless because their salvage chance would be below zero (-1%). If you were to train your salvage drone skill up one level the chance would rise above zero (+1%) and thus your drones would eventually do their job.

The question is where you can find those maluses for any given wreck type. I recall players discussing about that
issue on these forums, you can find those using the search function. Those values might also be in the database dumps in which case you can find them in various websites dedicated to that kind of stuff, chrukers for example: http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online/

Assuming the values haven't been tampered with in this expansion, should be:

Small Wreck has an Access Difficulty Base of 30.
Medium Wreck has an Access Difficulty Base of 20.
Large Wreck has an Access Difficulty Base of 10.
Sleeper Large Advanced Wreck has an Access Difficulty Base of -20.
