hi i have steam installed on my pc which i do not use for eve , however todays patch seems to have corrupted my steam install ,
i fixed the eve launcher by running eve from the launcher inside the c drive folder . it did a remap of the directory it was drwaing the files from . eve working fine now , however whatever that did corrupted my steam application and im currently totally deleting steam and its contents to try get my games back with a clean install

not angry . but you might want to check your patch for conflicts bewtween traditional eve installs and people who have steam on there pc but not using it for eve
