In FW off grid boosting should be removed.

thats the old way of doing it. The new is to deploy a 70mil isk small tower and park your booster there. If somebody kills the tower just laugh at him for the wasted time and deploy a new one the next day.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

Yeah remove offgrid boosting so that my Loki alt becomes a Falcon alt like it should have been.

So what do you prefer, fighting a ship with enhanced capabilities, or fighting a ship you can't lock ?

EDIT :

If the boosting alt is on a gate, aggro it, he'll have to jump out within 20s. And, since it's a supposedly invulnerable alt on a gate, maybe someone isn't paying attention to it and you can get an easy T3 kill.

If the boosting alt is somewhere else in a safe, probe it.

If the boosting alt is in a tower, ask for the 1v1er to fight in the next system.

The best way to mess with boosting T3s is to fight around gates. If you manage to make them change system, the T3 won't be there for at least 2 to 3mns. Switching systems constantly makes it a massive PITA for the boosting alt.

All off-grid boosting is going to be removed anyway when they redo battlecruisers and the T3 command booster subsystem.

Unfortunately allot of fights in FW are conducted in frigs and destroyers which cannot engage booster alts on gates because they cannot pop the ship before the gate guns pop them, this may be improved a whole bunch now the logi frigates are in because we may be able to tank gate guns a little more but im doubtfull it will anywhere near perma tank.

Booster alts really are a problem in FW but FW does not in anyway need special PVP mechanics over and above what we already have, Low sec has good and bad points, no bubbles so much less podding but gate guns so harder to fight on gates.

As many people have already pointed off grid boosters have been talked about and are being looked at by CCP, this has been public knowledge for a good few weeks now, if this was reddit id call you a karma whore.

Thats not true. You do not need to dual box an alt to use implants.

I would actually like the bonuses you get from off grid boosting if I did not need to dual box an alt to get them. I think the bonuses add a nice additional layer of complexity to ship/gang fittings.

My only problem with them is you have to dual box an alt to get them and for me that is too immersion breaking. Eve changes from a fun spaceship game to a tedious job.


If you could get the same benefits of a booster ship by keeping a crew or something I would not mind them at all.

I originally liked the idea of having Warfare Link gives you a Weapons Timers (60 seconds of, you cannot dock, you cannot eject, you cannot jump through a gate).... but in reality if a t3 is sitting on a gate or station providing links, you only need to bring 3-4 Tornado's and you can alpha him.... (sometimes more, sometimes less depending on the tank).

I do agree, that offgrid boosting needs a serious revamp.....

Why assume this is a 1v1? Not all faction war fights are agreed duels.

Fighting at gates is a good way to get ganked as well.

Falcons aren't as much of a problem in faction war as ogb. I think its because having a killboard where all your kills include a falcon would be pretty embarrassing.

I have no problem with implants. If you're willing to risk 3 billion in isk while flying a hookbill more power to you. The synergy between 5% T3 boosts and those same implants though is what creates 'God mode.' Cruisers flying at interceptor speeds with the same sig radius you would get with 1 billion Halo implants is obscene.

WHOAH! Awesome! I would love to have a crews you could TRAIN, SELL, BUY, TRADE... jettison...

Talk about increased immersion. Wow. Love that freaking idea. And when your ship dies, good bye crew! I love this idea and endorse it beyond the end of the known universe.

Usually a OGB boosts your attributes and abilities so your t2 fit becomes equivallent of a faction fit. If you do not have an OGB, you should look into other solutions. Personally I do combat booster drugs. They are considered both badass and honorable.

I actually wouldn't mind the off grid boosts if I could have crews that accomplish the same things.

There are several ways they could do this. I was thinking this could tie in with planetary interaction.(although I don't really know much about pi) People could build academies for each race on the planets that could be upgraded to do each of the races boosts better and better. So if you had a minmatar crew you could have one for the speed boost another crew member for the sig radius boost, another for agility etc. That would at least give people who don't like to running alts the ability to compete. Yes of course the crews would explode (or drop?) like any other mod. Could different races crews work together? Maybe at a penalty?

Since FW has a special tie in with pi maybe they could make these crews a fw specific thing. Perhaps you have to pay a bunch of fw lp to make the academy etc.

Alas the idea is not that popular. Sad But there are a few, like you, who like it.

+1. Eve is about diminishing returns except for fleet boosters, and especially off-grid boosters.

Again, I'd like to reiterate people - if you read the dev blogs, CCP have confirmed that off-grid boosting is being removed when they do the battlecruiser balance overhaul.

All the more reason to go over/hammer out the details now so that we don't get yet another change that they "will monitor" (wimp speak for 'we have no clue, so just throwing **** out to see what sticks') .. FW specific changes are one thing but link changes will affect all of Eve, everything from worms to high-sec belts, and if it is done wrong (which CCP is wont to do when left to their own devices Smile) the ramifications could be disastrous.

Okay after thais weekened I am really sick because of offgrid boosting.
It ruins the whole game. Completely.
Ships going speeds they should´t go. You never know if you get scrambled at 10km or maybe even at 32. Etc...
It ruins really everything. Actually you can alomst say: Use boosts= auto win. Without boosts =fail.
I saw this weekened a dram going 8.5k m/s. A sfi going 4.2k m/s. And a Retribution tackled by a malediction. The Retribution (RETRIBUTION!!!!!!) went 4.1k m/s!!!!
The whole game is ruined by that crap.
Actually it is less important what a good pilot you are. Even one of the worst pilots with boosts will be successfull vs good pilots without boosts.
Sh.... boosters are ruining the game.
