Yep gotta agree that the explosions suck now, both visually and in sound.

CCP, if you want good explosions look at Homeworld 2 videos on youtube. That game has one of the best explosion systems that I've seen in a space game and it's only 4 months younger than eve. AND it hasn't been in development for 10 years.

HW2 Link - Note: this is a video with a graphics update mod, but the explosion is the same as in the original game

Sounds really do need to be revisited. For such excitement as I had when I read the blog post about redesigned sounds, and for such excitement as I still have over the rest of the expansion's updates to things like ship rebalancing, crimewatch, and a new bounty system...

The underwhelming backslide in sound quality is a sore spot. The music change was very good, and I want more of that, but please take notice that almost all other sound changes are really, really bad.

- Warp sounds no longer impressive
- Many turrets no longer impressive (wet fart really is the best description for pulse laser sounds now)
- Explosions no longer impressive in sound or sight
- Beeps, beeps, beeeeeeps
- Explosions (or whatever you call that) when salvaging... wut?

Overall, nice expansion (I applaud all your efforts and will gladly continue my Eve career!), bad sound. My Christmas wish list now includes nice sounds.

Initial work shown on Fanfest 2012 was promising. That kind of explosions effect I would like to see.

And this one EVE Fanfest 2012.

I haven't tested mega beams/techyons yet but indeed pulse lasers are complete crap, my abaddon sounds very weak in comparison to the last time I flew it. It just kills the pulse lasers for me :(

Ships explode? ..haven't seen anything like that recently no. What?

..not having seen ships explode recently, I might have to endeavor to do some research on this. Nobody is being serious lately, so I might get some easy kills, following which I will come back here and confirm, (if), ships explode.

Hell to the F'n yeah! Why didn't they just wait until those were done and release them instead of going 1/4 of the way with the new ones?

I just hate that stupid "BZZZT" sound that plays when something happens to the flags. Really annoying...

Play EvE how you want to play it and do not let others dictate how you play. Evolve your playstyle to protect yourself from others! Even in "PVE", "PVP" is there, lurking in the shadows.

Yup,thats very ture! I also heard the explosion effect from close but it sounds so bad of the explosion echo from a distance,it was not like an explosion,I cant describe what that explosion sounds like.....so weird sounding!!!
Hope CCP can fix the very terrible ship explosion effect and the explosion echo!!!

Yes, there is bug in the new explosion sound for small ships (frigates and smaller)

It will be fixed in an upcoming patch.

I generally like the new sounds (though yeah, the Abaddon doesn't sound like it's laying down the pain that it's laying down), but that BZZZT every time a flag is updated, or about to expire? Awful and infuriating. The CLANK every time a ship blows up or a wreck is salvaged(!)? Unnecessary and too loud, and once I heard it when I was about to dock my Noctis and nobody was around, which was unnerving.

The explosions are small (at least on subcaps), but prettier than the old fireworks display.

Also, the rapid blinking circle when you're about to lock is seizure inducing, and I'm not even epileptic.

Personally i like new explosions and sounds i have turned off by default. I have a heck of better playlist then ccp ever does. Not to mention when im on teamspeak its running on different computer then my eve client. Blink So music comes from that computer as well.

While we're on the topic of explosions and such, it would be nice if CCP fixed ships blowing up prior to being hit by weapons (visually speaking).

And while you are at it, please change the warp entry sound to a deep, impressive ka-boom, similar to previous? It is such a dramatic event visually, but the sound is so incompatibly underwhelmed. I think that is what most people complain about. Sounds are not as dramatic as visuals. The same usually goes for all explosions, effects, beeps, etc.

You are supposed to hear "a thunder" when you see a lightning, nothing less! Does your sound engineer understand this?

Anyone remember when mega pulse firing had the same issue. Especially in a blood raider or sansha pocket, would make my ears bleed.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

The new explosions are AWFUL, but most of the visuals in this game are of vastly varying quality. Frankly, with the resources that CCP does have I am consistently underwhelmed by the pace of progress they make with visual/physics updates (oh wait, what physics updates? My ship still can't properly navigate around an asteroid or not emerge from warp inside an asteroid and then be catapulted 60km away? Whut? /rant), though I am usually pleased with the results. This time, I'm left scratching my head.

Was looking new explosions and they are really nicely done and unique. I did was hoping for something else but those are just fine. But to be fantastic they need a little more tweaking (maybe light intensity up by a notch).

Explosion sounds great from up-close but they are little strange from distance (maybe I need some time to get used to it).

All in all great expansion.
