Admitting so many errors in judgment can't have been easy. Taking steps to correct what's been going wrong for while is surely costly and difficult. But much needed. So...thank you. And because one good turn deserves another, I've resubbed for 90 days, as a show of faith (can't play due to lack of time + connection limits but the resub is symbolic anyway). Will be watching what you do...the ball's in your court, CCP. Go, go, go!

Many thanks to the CSM for their efforts in pushing for the refocus on flying in space, which I know have been considerable even if they are not alway observable. Keep cracking the whip of reason, space councilors!

Lost in space, looking for sigs...

I've only been playing this game since 2006 but I think I have a good feel of what goes on with the EVE Community/CCP relationship and I continually (ever-so-much-more lately) see CCP reiterate the same thing over and over again: "We will continue to work on our communication with the players."

When will this be occurring? It appears that it hasn't already, yes?

I am excited to hear about the FW fixes coming soon and I hope that the many threads located in the F&I/Assembly Hall sections have been looked at. There have been many great ideas that haven't even had a simple response from anyone worth anything within CCP regarding this issue.

Sorry about my English/grammar, it isn't my first language.

Quote:
The tragedy here is that the team really did build solid technology and great art to support what you can see and did it in way that sets a strong foundation for building out the rest. The fact is, in spite of our missteps, they delivered some of the most amazing interior rendering and character technology in the industry, and their efforts deserve praise. The fact we didn’t leverage their achievement more effectively is my fault.

I totally agree, absolutely amazing work they've done. Kudos to you gents. I have been continuously blown away by your efforts and attention to detail.

I'm glad you're admitting the NEX Store issues. I believe it has a great source of revenue potential for you, but it really has been set off on the wrong foot - setting it back on the right schedule will take some great effort. Please set some items under 1000 AUR, preferably around the 100-200 AUR Range - make them simple shirts, nothing fancy, some easy designs... but give us customization on a simple "Hanes T-Shirt" level as much as on a $1000 jeans level.

I'm surprised you targeted FW after the totaly void it has experienced. It is potentially one of the most helpful introductory parts of EVE for PVP and purposeful action - but it has none of that now. But even as I write that it makes sense. Make FW Purposeful enough to get new players involved and having fun - give them purpose and action, give them an outlet to get recruited and show their skills and abilities and then you will reinforce the new member base with players. I see this as an admittance in a way that you will not regain some subscribers - that you are looking to rebuild the foundation for the expansion back into null sec for players as an organized force that has a chance of making it a possibility for the future to retain new players.

Thanks for listening and taking a step back for the benefit of us all. Excellently written and expressed.

Quite a bit of faith restored with that blog.

Hilmar, you undermine Zulu when you let him post his non-content blog and then wait 13 days to "make up" with players.

The sad fact is that CCP has already lost all trust capital you once had. Your words mean nothing. As one of those who played this game for what is approaching to be a decade, I somehow still appreciated your devblog, but as you put it yourself: In the coming days and weeks, the details of this plan and what it means for you will be unveiled.

What will be said there, is what matters. And if you do happen to listen to us rabble crowd, then I got one advice for you - make sure neither you, nor your staff, write blogs when you can't follow it up with content within 24hours, preferably sub 12. Let alone two weeks. You could make it as simple as stating that you cannot release any information at a point, and preferably give a timeframe. Posting "watch this space", then insulting players in the replies, and leaving it two weeks before you (again) post a non-content blog is quite insulting, and disturbing. You somehow already improved on this, since Zulu's winter-expansion blog came three minutes after yours.

The best tip anyone could give you is to stop the poor communication. The lack of, and the slow one, which is the two versions you use, are both bad. Straight to the point, honest, open, is something you don't do.. but would do (very) well to utilize.
Good luck.

thank you ccp &hilmar for restoring some of my faith in you.

i have always found it funny how you do not contact the community more before big announcements. just as some joke math, say you ccp invest some 38 hours per week into this game per employee. some people invest 50 or more and pay for it... to me that tells that a big part of the real know how is in the player base, especially when it comes to balancing game play issues!

on that vanity items thing. i would love to see things you can buy for your corp. say a possibility for corp members to put a small corp logo on their ships e.g. or similar things.

getting close to being able to proudly say

IdeaIt is a big man, that admits that he is wrong! It is a bigger man that takes steps to correct the wrong.Idea

You've taken a step in the right direction. I am keen to see your actions in the immediate and long term future.

Good luck on your journey CCP. Know that we, the players, want you to succeed in making EVE better.

Grammatical error and spelling mistakes are included for your entertainment!

I honestly loved reading this. Well said. I am looking forward to this renewed "EVE Online" focus.

Props go to Hilmar for the admission and sobering soul searching. And to the rest of the devs and CSM and community for having the patience to get to this point.

I'm right behind you

These can't have been easy words to write Hilmar, and I'm suprised and impressed that this blog was so brutally honest. If you guys can follow through on the promise to work on those structural probems that contributed to the disconnect, then eve has a bright future indeed.

We're all going to be watching your actions with caution, but you've given me some more hope that CCP will avoid repeating some of those mistakes.

But again, it’s what you do from here, not what you say.
Still, im very very pleased with this.

I'm surprised given the level of input and involvement of the EVE community that such problems arise. There is still plenty of low-hanging fruit to pick, and dozens of helpful people like FNG, Azual, Chribba, The CSM (especially Saleen and Mittani) and many more giving CCP our valuable insights. Massively and Tentonhammer are also helping give a voice to the community as a whole.

As a new player, I'd strongly suggest reading their posts about the new-player experience and am happy that the unrest is being met with humility.

Well said, and it is good to see your insight. I am still a fan and will still continue to be a part of your fan base, as long as you continue to do your best and fix your mistakes as soon as you can.
Thank you
