@HilmarVeigar I think it took a lot of courage to reflect on yourself as you did.
Respect!
I hope to be a part of that new Eve Online

Top bloggin' bossman!

Glad to see you don't share David Cameron's speech writers!

I am very much looking forward to the next 18 months of development after reading this and I selfishly hope for both our sakes it is a great success. For me at least, this blog does re-lay the foundations for that trust to be rebuilt. Good work.

Cheers.

Good first step down a long road, Hellmar. Stay the course and we'll be with you every step of the way.

Looking forward to the follow on where you detail how you're going to commit to the new path. Please believe that we still wish you every success, and that all we've ever wanted was to sincerely help you make EVE the flagship of the entire MMO community. As I still believe it should be.

As I still believe it can be.

You said you were going to watch what we did. I know what you were thinking when you wrote those words, but let me recast them for you in another way. EVE is a sandbox, In the MMO world, EVE should stand for community, for partnership between players and developers, for continual evolution, for the greatest social experiment in gaming history.

Give us the opportunity to work with you, give us the tools to reshape this gorgeous, vicious, intriguing, unparalleled universe and then, by God, watch what we do with them.

Don't let us down and we won't let you down.

Deal?

Respect for saying what you did. Just don't forget how this happened in the first place and don't let it happen again.

On a positive step, it sounds like a mistuned engine just chugging along is now perhaps getting serviced and will be purring smoothly once again. Inspirational leadership creates happy staff.

Will be waiting to see the results...

Our CEO, CCP Hellmar has something to say to all of you in his new dev blog.

Please read what he has to say and feel free to leave your feedback right here in the comment thread.

A letter like that should also be sent out via email for those that don't check the site regularly :).

Can't wait for what the future brings, you guys have done an amazing job so far. Keep it up!

That's a good idea. And to unsubbed players as well.

no. bad idea.

these guys wont accept issues on the state they are on.
if you give them hope again, and it goes wrong, it will be way harder to make them try again later.

better wait a bit, they will either learn it by themselves, or mail them when it's not words but content. way better this way.

but don't "force" them to look while it's too soon.

Excellent post. As I feel my faith have been restored to higher point than it was before, it has to be partly because of your writing.

Now that was Fearless.

Was an important though I should imagine difficult step to start the process of rebuilding trust.

EVE will be more personal, and thus more accessible to general audiences.

This should scare the hell out of anyone reading.

It means they are not developing for you. But rather, they are developing for people who have never spent a dime with CCP.

Well said, H. I recommend logging into your secret nullsec alt (we all know you have one!) and spending a few days roaming and shooting reds. It will be a healing experience, and then you can navigate EVE back onto the course of greatness with renewed vigor and bloodthirst.

I did get a few spine tinglies. I saw a few things that hinted that the real problems were being addressed, and not just bandaid conciliatory solutions.

I have a rule though... once you know someone is a charismatic speaker, beware. I've known enough salesmen and shills, sincere as they might be about what they were saying, only ultimately caring about their own self interests.

This blog itself was a good business decision. Whether it actually means anything is yet to be revealed. However *cautious optimism* regardless what I may think of salesmen in CEO positions.

Maxim 6. If violence wasn’t your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it.

Phew. I must admit, THIS Hilmar, I like a lot more. A strong commitment to the future of the spaceship simulator is all I wanted. Please, do bring forth more Eve alongside that, but not at the expense of spaceships gettin' love.

My account still doesn't run out 'til April, which means I'm nicely positioned now to wait and see on the winter expansion, and at least some sort of details on next summer.

Apology accepted, hopes raised.
