having a check box would be nice since you can leave the music volume set to a comfortable level for yourself. It would also make it easier to add a keyboard shortcut to toggle music on and off. Say to mute the music while listening to teamspeak. Just a thought. This is the configuration I prefer in most other games. In EVE I tend to have the music off and instead play a funk and acid jazz station in the background so it doesn't matter to me either way.

BTW, why was the jukebox removed?

Please tell me you're not in charge for game music or sounds, because if you do that explains why I have it turned off Lol

They made it so that different sounds or songs play when your in high, low, null, or w-space. Different variations of these songs/sounds play depending on whether your in combat, mining, the amount of ships destroyed in the last hour in the system, etc. I can see why they did it and it is an interesting concept, but this shouldn't be a mini-incarna. They should give us the choice to have it the new way or just click a button or check a box to have the old jukebox back.

Will have to check this out tonight. In most games the first thing I do is turn off the music. In Eve I have always listened to the music.

Liked the Jukebox as I could change the track on my own.

guys: soundcloud. If you want the in-game music with jukebox control, turn off the in-game music, load up the soundcloud and have fun.

That's why they uploaded it - for precisely that reason.

If the music doesn't include "Deep Purple Made in Japan" or any Rock by Ritchie Blackmore then it gets turned off...

I understand what CCP wants us to do now with soundcloud but, that means having another application running in the background. I don't much care for that idea. Eve is more stable for me when fewer things are processing in the background.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who misses the old jukebox. Not glad to see the new CCP way of dealing with old code; "if we can't fix it, just dump it and call it an upgrade".

Add features, don't remove them.

I want to try out the new 'soundscape', not have it imposed on me. I already had dynamic playlists for all that stuff.

It was pretty rude to discover this morning that the personal content I had added to my game-play over time had been erased.

Yeah, I'm bummed. Yeah, there are other ways around this. BTW, why was the jukebox removed?

That this new 'feature' was previously announced in one or several Dev-blogs does not make the game better, or resolve the negative impact of removing the good old Jukebox.

I just thought it might uselessly continue playing in the background, when I just turn the volume down.

That's why I was looking for the "stop" button :)

I'm looking into either to add a checkbox to make the music stop or when the slider goes to 0.0 that the the music system will also stop.

Hello,

I find removing the Jukebox being a very ill advised idea.

There's a quite annoying side effect of having to turn the music volume down: I LOVE to listen to the client login music and now I EITHER give up on it forever OR have to listen to 4 music tunes playing on each open client.

Furthermore the music switch is global, so turning it off on one client kills the music on all the clients.

Please do something about this, the situation before this patch was perfect and now it's ruined. Cry

I understand that progress comes with change but isn't there an old quote that goes something like if it isn't broke don't fix it?

I liked the old jukebox, and since I live in nullsec I don't want to hear the new ominous music proposed for nullsec regions all the time. Maybe sometimes I want to hear the bright and cheery highsec music when i'm in a mining op or just ratting.

Plus I had my own power metal battle music playlist because its power metal that gets me "in the zone" for CTA's and such.

Maybe if I ask please CCP will consider bringing it back so:
Please CCP, I ask that you bring back the jukebox and give the option to have the new style of sounds and songs instead of a forced switch.

I haven't actually logged in since the release of Retribution but from reading the other posts I'm not very happy with the fact that CCP have (A) removed the jukebox and (B) removed all the original classic EVE music that we all know and love. It's fine to say that we have put it all on sound cloud but it's just causing more hassle and also you have to have two applications open which I don't like. In my opinion It's nice that they've added location aware music but they should have made a play list and called it 'Classic Eve Soundtrack'. Therefore we would of had a choice then.

CCP need to realize that these tracks have been with us for years and that they have become a part of our everyday EVE life and that not everyone wants to be forced to change unnecessarily. I remember the effect that Incarna had to this kind of change and It's not very well liked.

Anyway, even though I will probably listen to the new music I'll be making my own play list of all the classic music :-)

On a last note I've carefully thought about what I've written and know of all the facts but the way I've put it is just to get the message through and hopefully CCP will take some notice if plenty of us agree.

Best regards,

Jack

Put an on/off option and hire Two Steps From Hell to do a truly epic soundtrack for all the aspects of the game. Do those two things CCP and all will be great in the musical side of EVE, at least in my opinion.

If you ever actually hired Two Steps From Hell to do a soundtrack in the future, put an option for choir or no choir. If you've ever listened to their work, you'll know what I mean.

I do listen to music outside of EVE when playing, however I also had a few playlists setup with specific music - a list for plexing and pvping for example within the in-game jukebox.

Now with it gone and replaced, in my own personal opinion, erroneously, with a loop of music to which we have excessively little control, and to listen to the track's that we do enjoy means navigating to a 3rd party website.

I don't play EVE in windowed mode and I'm extremely unlikely to go to SoundCloud to listen to the tracks that I want back.

Please re-instate the jukebox CCP - while most people go "EVE has sound?!?" like its a "hilarious" fact of life, without the option of choosing what tracks I can listen to in game, what tunes I feel most home with, I too will join the mass of the game silent.
