Having strange installation and patching issues, looking for outside input

Hello everyone,

I went on hiatus from this game about a year ago (truthfully I play eve off an on rarely for more than a month at a time)

Now that I am back I am having a lot of trouble getting EVE to install and run properly. On my first few attempts I simply downloaded the windows installer and it downloaded the client for me. It always seemed to need to run the repair tool for data corruption which was fine. Once I ran the launcher It validated the client then started creating patch 453216-453216 but always got to about 75% and failed. It would say:

"An error occurred while applying patch, the launcher will now try to apply the patch safely with raised privileges."

I selected "OK"

The patch would then initialize successfully and quickly say 100% completed within seconds of starting the patch then a new window would pop up saying:

"Unable to apply patch
It is recommended that you restart your computer and then run the EVE Online launcher again"

I did just that, but got the same results. I noticed it was needing to raise the privileges so I deleted the .patch file and ran it as an admin, and saw no change.

I then turned off the automatic protection on my copy of Microsoft Security Essentials and tried again with no success.

I then thought the initial data corruption from the client installer remained so I went here:

http://community.eveonline.com/download/?fallback=1&

and downloaded the offline installer. I ran its a few times and still got data corruption, and of course got the patching issues listed above.

I then decided I would download the two rar payload files and extract them somewhere to ensure they had no corruption. The first 8 or 9 tries the winrar extraction told me they had corrupted data in them. So I deleted, redownloaded, and extracted them until they could both extract successfully with no pop ups about corrupted files.

I ran the offline installer again with the two uncorrupted payload files, and now have encountered the same patching issues I had before.

I am not sure what to do at this point as I have tried everything I can think of. I have searched though the knowledge base and forums for those with the same issue. I have found a few with similar problems, but have not found a real solution for my own issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
