Retribution: Afterburner Changes

Patch Notes

"The Afterburner skill has been changed to now reduce duration by 5% (as opposed to increase by 10%) and reduces capacitor usage by 10% per level."

vs.

"Skill at using afterburners. 10% bonus to Afterburner duration per skill level."

Isn't that just lovely. That means at level 5, the AB duration is now 7.5 seconds (vs. 15 seconds). For those that don't know, the 15 second duration, together with a Small Nosferatu (3 second duration), provided frigates with the ability to permanently have their Afterburner on, regardless of whether or not they were being neuted by a Medium/Large Neut.

Was this change discussed anywhere on the forums, or is it a stealth change with no player input?

Edit: 7.5 is NOT divisible by 3, i.e. no more perma AB setups for frigates. Cap has nothing to do with this.

Reread what you quoted, cap usage hasn't changed (in total).

i wonder whether the +10% duration Zor's link will somehow become more useful in the future as well

i just locked an open door.. strange, yet symbolically compelling.

what Marian is trying to say:
if you active a nos about 0.5 sec (1sec since eve cant handle decimals) ahead of your afterburner, you will always receive enough cap to run another cycle due to the face 15sec can be divided by 3 sec (so you get a boost of cap right before afterburner cycle start, every cycle)

by change the duration of afterburner, it cannot sync up with the NOS and have a chance to 'skip a beat' after 7.5 sec if the said frigate is being neuted.

something like that
