re-installing client on Mac, having issues

I don't have time to scroll through the forums to find my answer, just gonna ask it and hope that someone knows how to help.

I'm reinstalling after 5 months away, and the launcher refuses to work.
The icon just bounces endlessly and then stops.

From what I remember, last time I installed it on my Mac it was a fight every step of the way to get it to work until it magically resolved after a patch came out.


I tried starting the game from the Resources folder in the package contents, and that didn't work.

I'm running a 13" Macbook Pro with these specs:
2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 processor
Memory: 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3

OSX 10.8

Needless to say, I know little about computers.


Halp.
