Pretty sure if the bounty is high enough no one will care. Put a billion ISK on someone's head and people will happily feed alts in cheap gank ships to CONCORD just to collect on it.

except that you won't get the whole billion!
Now now, let's not let facts get in the way of a good argument.

Be assured many of us do. I often check for bad spelling and grammar etc. PTwisted

Dev blogs don't stop stupid or lazy people from posting their mistaken assumptions, but they allow the rest of us to correct and ridicule them. Cool

It does work on Buckingham.

Bounty payment
From: CONCORD
Sent: 2012.12.01 16:12

For your termination of Schlepperchen we have paid you 70,000,000,000.00 ISK from their bounty pool.

On TQ one would have to gank a nicely filled freighter or a pimp super to claim a bounty that big.

on TQ you get the whole bounty paid if you pod someone

on Bucky you get a percentage of the ships/pods worth or the whole bounty pool if it's less than that amount

I indeed misphrased, let my try again. With the next expansion one will have to gank a nicely filled freighter or a pimped super (technically any ship would do if it carries enough titan bpos) to claim a big bounty in one go. Unless there is a cap on a single bounty payout that we are not being told about yet. Is there such a cap?

Eh, shouldn't that be the other way around?

Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format. Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

If you assume we are in the boundaries of the topic (new bounty system) it makes little sense indeed. If you assume Punktaris delights in getting on other ppls nerves it makes perfect sense. She is a troll and I should known. I usually ignore her but the new bounty system is to terrible to resist the temptation.

No, because the patch hasn't happened yet.

Why would there be?

The new bounty system takes the avg. market value of items into account when calculating the bounty payout for an individual hit. If the drop rate changes (because of a future patch or bug) for a high value item and turns that item into a low value item there would be a short time frame in which one could claim his own (phat) bounty before the market is catching up. So the system is not broken but vulnerable to changes. One could add a hard cap to bounty payouts to somewhat dampen the problem.

No they just use averaged historic data to judge values like with FW, goons already having done what you are suggesting deliberately. They won't say this is what they do but it seems the simplest way round it.

I'm not talking about market manipulation by a group of players to increase LP rewards. That's a completely different matter.

But any fix ccp created for that automatically fixes what you are talking about by default they use the same system.

If I understand this correctly...

I can camp a gate and wait for a good ship..say and Obelisk, have my confederate place a 100k bounty on the pilot then suicide gank ('cause therre is no kill right) an expensive ship for 20% of its billion isk value. A bunch of cheap ships expended but the Final Blow player shares the Bounty around with his ganking pals.

kool.

And how long will the game last with this mechanism in place?

Nope, If you put 100k isk bounty on a billion isk value ship and gank it all you get is up to 20% of the billion isk value. Which would be up to 200 million. However you only put 100k bounty on it. So you get 100k and thats it. His bounty remaining drops to zero as you cleared it all off.

If you put 100k bounty on a ship with a value of 100k. Then ganked that ship you would get 20k isk bounty paid out. The remaining 80k bounty would still be on the head of the pilot of that (100k ship).

Hmm.
I certainly hope this interpretation is correct.

Thanks

Important note: Existing bounties in the old (current) bounty system will be removed when the new system rolls out in December. This means that bounties that have not been claimed by that time will be gone for good.

Wait... I'm going to lose my cool Wanted Status!?!?! Nooooooooooooo!

On a more serious note, how is throwing a "bounty" on any player a good thing? Cause, everybody is going to become Wanted. Isn't "Bounty" more reserved for criminals wanted by law enforcement and Government agencies anyway? If I throw a bounty on random player, I've now turned them into the idea of a criminal, because they become Wanted and it's public.

Abandon all hope ye who x up in fleet
