Any benefits of being a titan pilot?

So I can finally fly a titan in about 2 months.

Is there any real benefit to doing so?

I'm in no alliance, I have no money to buy a titan, just the ability to use it.

Like, do the big alliances out there want titan pilots? Or do they already have enough?

Just wondering, thanks.

You can't afford one, it's irrelevant. Maybe you have 0.0001% chance of stealing one or something if you inject that 5 billion isk book.

Never train supercaps on a character you consider a main.

A character in a supercap will be in that supercap until the day it dies. No docking, no subcaps, no gates, etc until that fateful day. EVE will be forever a game of cynos and POSes once a character gets into one.

They are basically glorified alt prisons of value only to large alliances using its projected power.

It is my alt that can train it.

What about supercarriers?

How does an alliance expect you to buy your own capital ships and use them in battle if a titan is something like 80billion isk?

You PVE. A lot. I'm not even joking here, this is how many titan pilots funded their ships.

Hmm, And whats the reason for people doing this?

The way I hear it you grind money so you can trap your alt/main in a prison?

Why would anybody want this? There has to be some benefit?

You become completely critical to alliance operations and wield immense power in very specific situations.

You see alliance directors and similar people playing market games to dump ISK on a super. They are already lynchpins of alliance operations, and having an alt capable of bridging a fleet or rapidly crippling a POS is useful for them. For your average player, there is very little reason to jump into a supercap besides the same reasons people buy these.

Comon, there has to be something that alliances desperately want and are willing to hand out for free. Twisted

Some alliances fund carriers for poorer players, but most players can dump a billion on a ship by the time they can fly a carrier.

In TEST, some people have successfully run donation drives to fund new titans. You have to be the sort of guy that everyone loves and always shows up for fleets for that to work though.

Things like this and "I ran anoms to get my titan" completely devalue the whole supercap experience.

Ave is my main. If/when I ever quit eve I will buy a super or Titan and seal her up inside it to sail the digital universe forever.
I've done some really stupid shit in this game.

I've heard that some alliances expect you to buy the ship, but will help with replacing it once it gets blown up. But as far as why you'd want one, if you have to ask, you probably wouldn't enjoy it. I'm not being coy either, they're for people who want to show off how many internet space pixels they have. If the idea of owning one simply for the sake of owning one doesn't get you all wet and excited, you probably wouldn't enjoy it.

Right, build an alt to sit in a titan with so your main can go do other things after going through the trouble of swapping the ship over. So much simpler than just training an alt to fly a supercap perfectly so it is able to jump into action the instant it is logged in. Definitely the better choice. Roll

There is one thing that almost every alliance is in need of that they'll give you for free. Dictors.

Anything bigger, you usually need to buy yourself.

This is not necessarily true, many alliances will reimburse battleships and below (if they are fitted properly and used in the correct context). Carrier or even super-capital reimbursement is not un-heard of, but is largely limited to the wealthiest alliances in the game.

Reimbursement yes, but I don't think I've seen any alliances that will flat out give you larger ships normally.
