with the nightmare and rattlesnake setup, you warp in and sit still.

moving around is necessary in pvp fleets, but mission grinding takes too high a toll if you have to dictate rage by moving.

It's why I wouldn't use the mach and vindi. that's a lot of speed management.

use the rattlesnake as logi and make the nightmare's lows full-gank: 4 heat sinks, 1 tracking enhancer

it's so brutishly effective, the only rig I would recommend is a collision accelerator on the nightmare--it doesn't matter what the other rigs are, on the nightmare or the rattlesnake. fit what makes you feel good

Interesting to see how you do this. How well does the NM work against Guristas? never bothered to try it myself, slacker I know. I use a torp CNR and tengu, but want to switch it up to make it faster. Tried a navy mega and torp cnr last night and it wasn't that much of a change. Could go vinvi/kronus and maybe the rattlesnake route. I have 2 NM's which I use in amarr space, just wanted to try something different. I would probably have to test the rattle snake on the test server to see the impact the new AI has on the drones.

Sorry Devil's, I am highjacking your thread Twisted

how well does it work: I use multifrequency crystals and caldari drones, an omni tank... and bring it into every mission (with the exception of faction missions, which I don't take because of the standing hits). I don't have to change anything.

lvl4 NPC's can resist as much as they want to, but 2,000 dps is ridiculous no matter what their resists are.

I wouldn't mix armor and shields in a fleet, such as the navy mega and CNR setup.

as for AI target switching, the one time I ran a wormhole site with 3 rattlesnakes, they did not target my light drones. (that's all i will say about that)

even if the new AI eats one or two light drones, I refit in the orca. when they're damaged, I "repair all" in station (when I dock to turn in and request new missions).

a very experienced player explained shields vs armor this way: shields is great for tanking missions. pvp is all about armor. (and armor is meant to be repaired after-the-fact)

a nightmare is perfect for level 4's, and rattlesnakes are capable of soloing level 5's. if you have the luxury of running multiple accounts, why not put them together~

Just got back, read all you wrote. Seems like a great combination indeed. I've got one character who can basically fly anything. (Myself) and then some alts, one can fly a CNR perfectly, doesn't have enough drone skills for a rattle yet.

So for now I suppose Nightmare+CNR has to do it, also, 2 nightmares with a cap chain would seem really nice, you can make them have insane amounts of cap regen with 2 large energy transfers and those large egress port maximizers.

Rattlesnakes will be even better after 4 december however. I get 729dps in EFT with 5 gardes... (4 of the new drone damage mods) With 50km optimal en 12km falloff, and a tracking 0f 0.059. (With 2 faction omni's)
So I'm really tempted to skill for one of these now. ^^

Edit: lol, was playing with EFT.
If you do the cap transfer thingy with Vargur's you can perma run 1260dps omni tank with a 100mn AB+2 TC's. (86% cap stable)
And it has 0.10203 tracking and does 1149dps to 3.8/57 with RF EMP (Including 5 hammerheads). Without any implants at all... :')

rattlesnakes are a great reason to train drones. it's always a good time to get out of CNRs... (ok, i'm biased. but stop being SO caldari.. I really do not believe the CNR is that great. I sold mine for a rattlesnake)

as you skill up, your drones become more effective. it's quite motivating. the thing is, if you have a nightmare, you don't really *need* the rattlesnake.

it doesn't sound like you plan to train drones just yet, and that's a mistake. I'm currently min-maxed to train all drone skills to V. ALL of them. I will have that crazy drone dps not too long from now.

your guns will melt battleships, but 10 skilled mediums will melt them as well. two flights of light drones will make frigates and cruisers a non-issue.

vargurs require moving a lot. it would be difficult to maintain the 9.7km range for the cap transfers. I suppose you could follow one with the other. but you're missing out on a lot of utility with drones--

cap-free armor and shield rep drones, out to your max control range--in a way, that is better than T2 logi transfers
ecm drones, endemic to PVP.
web drones, not as effective as a proper web, but it's there

and all the other combat utility drones

I think you should train drones, brah

or you could just http://i.imgur.com/z6hbx.jpg (alpha through npc battleships with artillery which gets 10,000+ volley damage on a machariel, and autocannon the other for the faster things)
