Compact Minerals

I've posted several times that mineral compression needs to be nerfed, badly, and im mostly met with responses such as

"Mineral compression needs to stay because there is no other way to get low ends in 0.0; its too risky and not cost effective enough to mine them out there"

The same reason is given for why there is no manufacturing out in 0.0; if youre going to be hauling tons of trit in from empire anyway, why not just haul in the finished product and skip the part where we have to risk multi billion isk BPOs?

I present to you - Compact Minerals

The idea to keep this balanced is when a low end roid gets to be full sized, it collapses in on itself, creating a more compact version of itself, they would take 10x the volume but refine into 50x the yield of the non compact mineral

Compact Veldspar would be 1 m^3 per unit and the batch size would still be 333 units, but the yield would be 50,000 trit

You could even make a specialized mining ship for these compact asteroids.

This coupled with the complete elimination of mineral compression would be a measurable improvement to 0.0 for everyone.

1. The PvPer will get more targets to shoot/defend
2. The industrialist will get more toys to play with out in 0.0
3. This will decrease supercapital proliferation as you can no longer haul a titan's worth of trit in a single freighter.

Thoughts?

The nice thing about this is that its self regulating:

1. Only full sized asteroids will compact so you wont deflate the low end market too much with endless supplies of easily mined low ends.
2. Asteroids in hidden belts dont grow and therefore could never compact meaning that people would once again have to mine in belts exposing themselves to additional danger.

Any other ideas about pushing industry out to 0.0?

The main problem right now is T2 . . . how do you build T2 ships out there?

My thought is to give the "advanced" assembly arrays a waste reduction when in sovereignty space meaning that you could actually build ships cheaper in 0.0, but never for a net gain in materials.

The idea would be to allow the assembly arrays to "spool up" so that they would work more efficiently over time. This way, you'd get a 1% bonus initially, a 5% bonus after the first month it's online and a 10% bonus after 2 months online or something like that.

This would make defending your "shipyards" very important because you couldnt just rebuild them the next day, you would have to wait months to get the bonuses back to where they were.
