i cant help but notice, i put 7 launchers on my destroyer and theres an empty spot on the model... my rack is full, so should my model be rigth? O.o common, dont make every ship a drake...

but seriously now, are you planning on putting some kinda upgrade for hard points, so you're leaving empty spots? so that if you put the module on you get extra hardpoints? but only one can be put.. or extra T2 ships with more hard points? though usually T2 ships have damage bonus and .less hardpoints....
to me it sounds like thta

or... you've put 8 hardpoints and highs from the beginning and then though they where to powerful and removed them... or put extra ones just in case you need to buff them later????

HELL.... even the mining frigate has extra space for hard points on the model right? its like a style!

in the case of the mining frig, utility high. The new caldari dessy, CCP intended the ship to have 8 launchers, but later reconsidered.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

it's the same with the talwar (minnie dessy).
it just looks silly because it ends up in distributing the turrets/launcher asymmetrically.

serious dislike.

It is correct that it has become custom to equip any ship, that has the hull area to support it, with 8 hardpoints.

This is, as has already been speculated, to support any future upgrades and/or to fascilitate all current or future T2 version of said hull.

The fact that any given ship does not carry the CPU or Powergrid to support fitting 8 highslot modules, does not mean that any future revision or upgrade will not.
Therefore, constructing the ship hulls in a manner that makes it mechanically possible to equip 8 guns or other highslot hardware, regardless of any current technological limitations, seems like the sound design decision.

Now, the point made, that any symetrical ship, fielding an uneven number of highslot modules, will become an asymetrical ship, is a very good one indeed.

I will be looking into some blueprints and hardpoint layouts and see what I can do here.
Obviously the sound design here would be to always have a centered hardpoint pair on symmetrical ship designs, to allow for even distibution of uneven highslot modules.

When you finally (hint hint) get around to redoing the naglfar alongside capital ships V3 , please make sure to leave it room for a couple more turret hardpoints so Fozzie can bring it up to it's proper place with all it's vertical glory.

The same thing goes with Phoenix and Leviathan for gun hardpoints, by the way Big smile

Yes Please! It's certainly more desirable to have an option to create symmetry whenever possible.

Take the Harbinger, for example. If you put its 7 turrets in the first 7 high slots, you get an asymmetrical turret placement on the "chin," but it's easy to move the turrets around where you have both "chin" spots taken up, yet you still are able to have a symmetrical layout otherwise.

I'm 100% behind giving the option to add symmetrical placement.

Enter grid and you're already dead, destined to be reborn and fight another day.

thank you very much, kind sir. the matari people rejoyce for they could then bash the stinking slavers with their new, stylish and symmetricly armed (speedy)tank of awesomeness.

Just a follow up on this one, the asymetrical hardpoint setup on the Talwar that is.

Due to the somewhat rigid schedule/procedure we enter when a release is coming close, there is unfortunately no way that we can make this change at this point in the progress Sad

The Talwar will launch on the 4'th of December as is, but I have not forgot about this.
Next point release or patch, I sincerely hope that we will be able to make this small update for you Attention

thanks :)
changing it with the next possible patch is more then enough for me, knowing that the issue is looked at.
