Adversity, n; a condition marked by misfortune, calamity, or distress.

Adversity. is looking for small gang pvp'ers who love to fight outnumbered and against the odds, while relying on superior piloting and tactics rather than numbers and ewar. Unlike some groups, our definition of a small gang is under 10, and a medium gang around 25. and we usually fight gangs that have at least twice our numbers (ganks are cool and all, but it's not our primary focus).

Us:

-Solo/Small/Medium Gang PvP
-Late EU/Early-late US TZ
-Experienced Pilots/FC's
-NBSI
-No sov, no CTA's, nor will there ever be.
-Based in The Forge
-Ranked under 2k on Battleclinic
-Very social-minded.
-We hate falcons.

You:

-Experience in small gang pvp
-A good attitude
-Working mic
-A willingness to be active and involved, especially on comms. If you want to jump on once a week, ask if there's any fleets up, then log off, Adversity probably isn't for you.
-Love to fight outnumbered and win
-Hate falcons.

Random Q&A:

-What ships can I expect to fly with you guys? As mentioned before, we mostly fly shield skirmish-y cruisers and battlecruisers, as well as whatever we feel like solo'ing in. Active-tanked brawler ships like ASB or dual-rep fits are also common. On occasion we run fleets with some militia brosefs that bring out the heavier armor battleships and capitals.

-You've sold me. Where do I sign up? Join our public channel and shooting **** with our members and friends for a bit. Contact me either via evemail or private convo and we'll set up a short interview. After that you'll go through a trial period (usually 2-4 weeks) where we see how good of a fit you are.

Join our public channel "Adversity." or contact Lex Arson in game for more details.

Seriously, members get the **** taken out of them if they even discuss using ECM drones as a viable tactic. If you have "experienced blackbird pilot" anywhere on your resume, please don't bother applying. If, however, you have a proven history of being terrible at using ECM ships, this might actually count in your favour.

You:

-Solo/Small Gang PvP'er (or have a good knowledge of the game and are willing to try it)
-Be able to show a decent killboard history of small-gang work (we don't care about your efficiency or KDR)

It's cool if you go out and die a lot because you're looking to engage in many unfavourable situations, but please don't come a knockin' if you're still afraid of fighting a gang at least twice the size of yours. We lose ships, but we have fun doing it, so if that sounds like your cup of tea, you'll probably enjoy us.

I know nothing of SFIs - please educate me on their speed and combat ability relative to the Talos.

Again, if your entire skillset is dedicated to recons, we probably won't be all that friendly towards having you along. Just saying.

One thing to add to this - be honest. You've got a much better chance of getting in if you're chill and tell us everything, rather than hiding stuff and hoping we don't find out. We're here for pvp, not to judge all of your past dishonourable internet actions. Except for ECM stuff. We'll judge the hell out of you for that.

Liking ponies is also a plus.

Time to post a bunch of :words: about not a lot of action, but I haven't posted a BR in like 11 months, so **** yeah writing a BR.

Adversity went for a short 3-man roam today, flying Cynabal, Talos and Sleipnir, with Loki links. We made our way through Kourmonen and Auga without much fanfare, and went over to Dal because the map showed 12 pilots active in space. As we got in, Al was scouting with his link Loki and was having a hell of a time differentiating between friendly and hostile militias in local due to his alt being neutral, but he reported an Oracle, 2 Drakes and a Cyclone on scan towards a major plex. I jumped in in my Sleipnir and determined that local was about 80% hostile, out of around ~27 pilots in local. We were all geared up and ready to fight them, however, after quickly consulting the Eve-for-retarts handbook, we determined that my Sleipnir could not actually enter a major complex, so we had to wait for them to leave. We decided to pop over to Vard and have a look there while we waited. As we sat on the Vard gate in Dal, the Minmatar Cyclone from the hostile fleet landed on gate with us. He jumped through, and good-guy-Lex-Arson jumped with him in his Cynabal. As this happens, the rest of the enemy fleet lands, including a neutral Scimitar. From the other side of the gate we hear Lex say "hurr-durr-hurr Ok I have him pointed, jump in you guys", so we do, and the Cyclone reapproaches and jumps back to Dal. gf. So we wait out our aggression and tell Lex to go back through to check if the enemy fleet is still there. They are, so Al works on getting his links back into Dal from Vard. A minute and a half later links are back into Dal and in position, so we leeroy into the enemy fleet. Except they've ****** off to parts unknown.

Al warps his links back across system to see if he can pick them up on scan, and picks up a Drake, a Hurricane, and a Scimitar on scan, back in the same major plex again. We're like "sweet, lets wait for the rest of their fleet to come here, and we'll catch them on the gate". So we sit there, and after an amount of time that I'm not sure of, a friendly Hurricane lands and activates the gate. We're like "lol, what a tool, he's gonna die". But after a couple of minutes of watching the scanner he doesn't die, and the rest of the Minmatar fleet doesn't show up, so we're like, this is gay, lets leave. As we're about to leave the fleet that was in the plex lands on the gate with us. Turns out they're the only 5 friendlies in a system with 30 people in it. gf again.

At this point we warp back to the Vard gate, and I alt tab a few times while Lex and Al are doing whatever Lex and Al do, and I tab back in to find my friends gone from the gate with me, and a hostile Drake 110km away from me. Lex jumps back in and starts burning towards him. As he gets closer he sees that the Drake is aligned towards the sun, and tells me to align and get ready to follow if he warps. The Drake warps before I'm fully aligned, and Lex and I enter warp at roughly the same time. Lex lands slightly ahead of me and goes "oh ****, Fleet Stabber and Drake here at zero, I'm burning off". And so it's on.

I land a few moments later in my Sleip, and Al is in warp from the Vard gate. We call the Fleet Stabber primary, just as Al lands. A second hostile Drake lands, and a few moments later a Falcon decloaks. I call "Falcon Falcon Falcon" and turn on my MWD. Split seconds later a hostile Scimitar lands, in the opposite direction from that the Falcon decloaked from. This is where things turn into a clusterfuck. Lex calls "Scimi scimi scimi, we need to kill the scimi", and he starts going. So I'm in my Sleipnir, burning after the Falcon, being chased by the Fleet Stabber, while Lex and Al are burning the opposite direction, going after the Scimitar, while being chased by the Drakes. For demonstration purposes I have hired a graphics artist to do a rendition of what this might have looked like:

http://i.imgur.com/zbhfj.jpg

Fortunately I, with the strongest tank, am also taking the brunt of the enemy fire at this point. For the first little bit I am doing a good job of cycling my single ASB so as to not waste charges. However, as I move out of range of the Drakes, they switch their fire over to Al. The Falcon is keeping me permajammed, and doing a decent job of keeping Lex and Al jammed as well. Fate, however, is not without a sense of justice. Almost immediately upon arriving at zero metres from the Falcon, he misses his first jam cycle on me, and I'm like lol you're a ******, and shoot him until he explodes. At this point the Fleet Stabber is burning back to the Drakes, Al is burning away from the Drakes, Lex is maintaining point on the Scimitar, and I'm burning towards the Scimitar. As Al gets out of range, the Drakes switch onto Lex, and he has to pull range just as I get into range. I point the Scimi (which is ASB fit and not dying very easily), and Lex also gets out of range, so the hostiles switch back to me. I let myself get down to about 15% shields, turn on my ASB, forget about it and let it permarun while I try to hold point on a Scimitar that's roughly the same speed as me.

Somewhere in here a hostile Oracle lands at range and starts shooting tachyons at us. Never ones to back down from a challenge, Lex and Al chase after it. Lex manages to catch it just as the friendly fleet from earlier lands right on top of it (2x Cane, Drake, 2x Scimitar). Lex and the friendlies kill the Oracle, and the rest of the bad guys **** off as pretty much our whole fleet is low on shields (because I ran my ASB dry), and capacitor, and we're unable to hold point on anything else. We hang out and loot the field for a minute while the friendlies rep up our space vessels.

Suddenly a random Tengu lands on grid with us, then a Cynabal, then 2 more Tengus (we kinda stopped watching local and scanner, not that Lex knows how to work his anyways). We had a few minutes confusion while we debated whether we were staying to fight or not, and ultimately determined that if our friends were staying to fight, we could do so also. Our friends chose to stay, and so we did as well. Ultimately not much happened here. We chased them around for a bit, but couldn't hold them down due to :100MN:, and they couldn't kill us due to :logistics:, and they eventually warped off.

As promised, not a lot of killing actually happened, but these were the first exciting things to happen to me since I've been back in the game, and I felt like fatfingering my keyboard about it, so here you go.
