They're definitely gunning for the CGI cutscene. I believe that they meant "A Future Vision" quite literally.

I wouldn't mind that sort of standing-based reaction if it could be modified. It could be rather hard to do infiltration, or even to play a saturnine character, if everyone automatically wore their hearts on their sleeves.

And, with a tip of the hat to JJR, because I let myself get too exasperated in my replies to him and I shouldn't have, I wouldn't mind if they started with "rough" and refined from there. I was too hung up on trying to get across CCP's original goal of shooting the moon and sticking the landing. I think they would be well served by trying to get a successful rocket launch first.

Reading o.O New station environments! posts I came across Victor Maximus post who had a good idea with potential of expanding current WiS content simply by taking modular approach with future WiS content.

CCP already have tools to expand current WiS related content (Captain's Quarters) with some ideas from Victor Maximus.

Can't be totally open WiS, in major hubs the system couldn't handle hundreds of avatar, have to be limited:

- Rent "WiS slots" in station to individuals or copropration with different avatars cap (5, 10, 15); will be an huge isk sink, that's good.

- Specific services: WiS slot to install gambling games room, black market/player driven store for specific products, new manifacturing, simply social areas, drug laboratories, new Research, corporation lobbies. All have to be new products/services.

- Remove the damned NEX store and normalize all the avatar related items moving them in the normal EvE production cycle and market system.

This as base step.
later: add WiS modules for PoS, so people can build like towns in space. These should be attackable accordingly with the system security level/war decs.


Edit: third step: Avatar exploration in DeD abbandoned structures, FW missions: sabotage and so on in FW outposts.

what, no planet landing?, i know EVE ships cant do it because of the Tritanium properties but hell, we should have invented some sort of planetary shuttle....

What would be interesting is if they tied in WiS with the (hopefully soon!) idea of modular/scaled/whatever-its-being-called-now player-owned station revamp. Who cares about walking around Jita when you could walk around the station you just built. That would give CCP the legroom to prototype WiS without revamping NPC stations/creating artificial infrastructure (as the station modules or what have you could be whole packages from creation, not just tacked on after the fact).

Just a thought.

Also, CCP, you guys rock for not abandoning WiS, I want to explore outside of the safety of my ship.

Modular additions sound like a great way to test the water. Paying rent for a new module that holds multiple pilots seems good too.

I know I'm just absolutely setting myself up for disappointment, but I have a dream. A dream that next year at fanfest, someone somewhere on some stage will finish up their presentation, walk off on stage, walk back on, and say "one more thing."

Then, at that glorious moment, the lights will dim, a video will start, and we'll see an actual working WiS demo. Then at the end f the video, the screen will go black and all of a sudden we'll see "COMING 2013" on screen in ridiculously huge font.

Again, I'm well aware this would never happen, but by creating this alternate reality inside my head, I'm able to cope with day to day life as it is now knowing WiS may not arrive for years...
