Man I was excited that we get three characters per account until I learned you can only level skills on one of them. A quick web browse, people seem happy about having three slots I was wondering what people do with their extra characters. I can see maybe one character could be used for piracy, with possible minimal skill investment, as an example.

it only takes about 2 weeks to get the PI skills up to about 4. If you dont mind juggling 15 planets every few days its good income.

Things like industrial characters take a short time to train. I just started one with a two-month skillplan; after that I'll make another character and do it again. These characters won't ever need to undock, so there's no point training other skills. I won't train industry on my main (or the other character on my second account) because Benny's on a perception/intelligence neural remap and a new character can easily switch to a memory/intelligence remap to optimise training time.

While I can't have multiple characters training on one account, I can have multiple characters running multiple production slots on one account.

What I'm aiming for is one account with Benny on it and a couple of short-plan alts, and a second with my 'main alt' and two short-plan alts.

I bought a few accounts to train up some useful skills in alts (scanning, PI, etc) and then transfer them into my main accounts to later close the alt accounts.

Try the search button - already threads on this.

Anyway, here's my take:

Main: Explorer - armour tanking drone/hybrid/laser user

Secondary: Miner/Missioner - shield tanking missile/drone user.

Tertiary: Trader/PI

I thought about making one so I could check the market in another region live, but I haven't gone through with it yet. I don't tend to make alts in games.

There are a variety of alts with minimal SP investment that you can train to enhance your EVE experience, depending on your interests.

Trader ~ 1.5-2M SP

Barge Miner ~ 2M SP

Cyno Char ~ 500K SP

FW Alt ~ 1.5-2M SP

Production Alt ~ 1.5-2M SP

Indy Hauler ~ 300K SP

Scout ~ 200K SP

... and the list goes on. For anywhere between a week to a months worth of training, you get a lot of options.

Main (subcaps, carrier, dread) - 69.5m SP
Forum alt - no training
empty

High-sec Mission alt - 39m SP
Scout (probing, covert ops, covert cyno) - 9m SP
Hauler (freighter, covert transport, cyno) - 7m SP

Fleet Booster (command ships, t3s, Orca) - 42.5m SP
Scout (probing, covert ops, cyno) - 7.5m SP
Trader (trading, jumpfreighter) - 18m SP

0.0 Mission alt (Tengu) - 23m SP
Supercarrier pilot (in training) - 11m SP
empty

As you see I tend to have one high SP character and 2 low SP specialized alts per account - which is of course a result of the training restriction. 5 of my characters were bought at some point.
