Mining ops

Is there an Eve etiquette for when a corp schedules ops? The first corp I joined were a great bunch of guys, but no one ever showed up for posted ops, which was frustrating. Personally, I think they should have changed the op time around to make them happen, but whatever. Like I said, great bunch of guys, I wish them well!

So I join my second corp, being assured that heck yes! Ops start on time and and are full of swell guys and gals! So groovy, I sign up, and yay!, there's a mining op scheduled in two days! 23:59 hrs Eve time! Hoo ya!

So I show up at the appointed time, and hey, they started the op a couple of hours early, and now I'm just catching the rear end of it. WTF?

So is it unreasonable of me to expect an op to start when the ops was posted to start, or am I just being anal? 'm not talking about spontaneous "hey, let's op" moments, but scheduled ops posted by corp officers. These should happen when they are posted to happen, right? I'm new to Eve, and not sure if this chronological laissez faire attitude is an Eve thing I just need to get used too, or if I just had some bad luck.

P.S. If you have a cool corp in or near Min space that means what it says when it posts an op schedule, let me know.... I'm currently unemployed-

Just chalk it up to experience. Did you bother asking why the op was started two hours prior to the posted time?

With your first corp, did you ask why nobody ever showed for the ops? Maybe you could have found some legitimate answers?

Just hang tough. It usually takes a few corps for new players to go through before finding a good fit. Also have you considered starting your own corp?

"Did you bother asking why the op was started two hours prior to the posted time? "

Yep. Folks were there and they wanted to party!

I think they just scheduled them at bad times, like Friday and Saturday nights when most folks are doing Friday night kind of stuff. Those folks always answered my questions. They were cool, just too laid back for me. If anyone is looking for a laid back, casual corp, I highly recommend them. BLACK WING CARTEL

Thanks for the reply!

How serious a corp takes it's ops and how strict they stick to their schedule is different for each corp.

Some corps will be very strict, others laid back about. In the end it's a game, so people also play it to have fun and cause of that they can be a bit more flexible around it.

This is all corp culture. Different corps do these things differently depending on the personalities involved. As far as mining ops go, however, I fail to see why it is a problem if an op starts early. If it started late or not at all I could understand your frustration. Mining is not PvP, there is no reason why you can't just hop into your ship and join whenever it is convenient for you - and it is unreasonable to expect your corpmates to sit in station and wait 2 hours for the scheduled time, when they are online and feel like mining.
