Oh, can we please please please have a special creepy atmo flavour sound that is played when a cloaked ship is slowboating towards one's ship?
More precisely: that will be played _most times_ when a cloaky is approaching and sometimes for no reason at all.

I have to admit my eyes widened a bit when I read the part about the low cap audio que. Thank you, CCP! It's about damn time...

Overall, good read. Procedural sfx sounds pretty cool. And things like ship idle sfx adds a nice touch.

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

Personally, the removal of the jukebox isn't such a big deal. What CCP had was a pain to use, why even bother using it when you can have your own choice of third party apps that handles everything so much better. The jukebox (for me) was 99.9% redundant and ANNOYING at times when it turned on automatically for some inexplicable reason(s).

Now, I play EVE with sound mostly turned off (unless I need to use voice), one feature I'd like to see is the separation of background effects/music and battle effects (e.g turret/impact/missile sounds etc.) so that you will have 2 separate toggles in the option to turn on/off. It's common sense and not an unreasonable request. Why? Imagine playing Beethoven's 9th Symphony (or whatever other music) with your favourite player while your titan's blapping some poor capital in a fight, complete with all the battle sound effects. That my dear fellow, is bliss Big smile

No matter what changes you make, please make sure to QA and debug every sound, under every common in-game situation. Nothing is more annoying than buggy sound, esp. sfx sounds that aren't properly normalized for volume, and continue to auto-repeat, after the module has been deactivated.

I had to permanently turn off all of the game sfx, after the salvager audio was changed to that obnoxious loud clanking sound clip and failed to turn off, even when docked in station.

I have some comments but please note that these are strictly from me as a player!

I am really excited about these changes - For one thing, ship environment sounds make a ton of sense and it's something I've wanted to have for a while. Just add actual crews that modify the ships stats and we're gold :P

I understand the soundcloud initiative; but does it have any impact on people with a limited data plan ?

In the same feeling; can this impact on players with limited bandwidth who perhaps play eve and listen to other online streaming services like EVE-Radio ?

The jukebox vs media player comment is relevant - but don't forget that adding a jukebox and having the ability to play your own MP3s in the thing are not date related at all. If this is not going to be an option moving forwards, will we be able to export our current playlists ?

Sound made when finishing a mission - I hope it's a Ding! :Þ

Otherwise, I really can't wait to hear (pun lol) from you guys Pirate

I'll have to actually unmute EVE some time to try out these new sounds Shocked

Also, please provide an option to disable EVE's sound completely. I'd love to have that processor power and memory to use instead of simply having it wasted by muting the sound when I'm running 5+ clients.

sounds when I complete a skill or ....

okay does this sound to any one else like a move towards "Mon-mon-mon-monster killlllll !"

Someone mentioned/requested an adjustable cap warning level.

remember, you can't be taking away things that you've given us and you can't tell us, "we want the music to play in context of where you are and what you are doing" its not about what you want. Its about what we the paying public want.

Some of us (me included) will like a majority of the sound changes ("upgrade" would be too subjective) but I think (imho) that these changes will seal the fate of "eve has sound?" (non usage) for most.

Sounds good, no pun intended.

The only thing which comes to mind is for ships which are on the very edge of cap stability, potentially ticking back and forth over that 30% every time the shield booster fires. That could get a mite annoying.

You can set the threshold to be wherever you want actually, just like with the other warnings.

warningThreshold = 30%
soundReset = 10%
playWarning = True

if shipCapacitor < warningThreshold and playWarning is True:
warningSound(capacitor)
playWarning = False

if playWarning is False and shipCapacitor >= warningThreshold + soundReset:
playWarning = True

Tada!

Wow

I haven't played with sound for like... 2 years at least. I'm so excited. Sound is a really immersion breaking thing if it's not good!

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I will really miss the old soundtrack that I heard everyday since seven years ... But I must admit that this changes are certainly good ones. I can't wait to hear the result on TQ :).

I'm sure everyone has wondered about the group that produces all the wonderful sounds in EVE Online that everyone loves so much. Well now you'll know about just how they rock your auditory senses, thanks to this wonderful new Dev Blog from CCP TorfiFrans.

Please use this thread for all your feedback!

What I'd love to have access to are the more exciting bits of music that play when you enter a mission. For ages I've been wondering how I could get my hands on those. By far some of my favorite music selections in the game with the driving industrial sound.

Anyways. Cheers!

One of the things that came out of the roundtable sound had at the last EVE Fanfest in Reykjavik, was that stargate sounds become quite monotonous when you do a lot of travel.

Yay! It truly pays off to attend Fanfest & its roundtables :P
(Note that the same monotony also applies to the sounds of the ships guarding the gates ;)

And I second the request for dynamic audio in lowsec.

Well, they oughta know what to do with them hogs out there for shure.

Dear CCP Developers.

Please make it so that the jump bridge does not kill my ears every time I use it.

Thanks.

Can I buy these as an album on iTunes, or download them from somewhere? A lot of these tracks are part of the collection that was previously downloadable from the EVE Online web site, but I don't have all of them yet.

Streaming from Soundcloud every time I want to play a track is not practical at my workplace, on my iPhone when I'm riding my bike, on the bus when I want to mask chatter, etc.

PS: I can't play the tracks from Soundcloud on my Mac, probably due to not having Flash installed for about the last 6 years.

PPS: There's a Soundcloud app for the Mac, but it requires me to log in using Facebook in order to do anything.

CCP, any chance the soundtrack on soundcloud could be made available for download? It'd be nice to put it all onto my mp3 player.
