The info.plist that you are looking for is actually easy to find; when you "show contents" of your eve application just use the spotlight search and type "info.plist" and select the place you want it to search next to that.

for example if I search for info.plist of my application named "Eve Online 2" i select "eve online 2" where is says "search:". they should list 3 of the files and if you have done this before you can find what you are looking for and from there you can edit the name of the preference folder the client uses (mine if obviously eve online 2), to double check you have the preference file you can open finder then at the top select "GO" -> hold down the "alt" key and select your "library folder" when it comes up then application support and it should be there

I duplicated my original eve online client and did this and it works.. sorry if i am not good at explaining this :P i also use a 2010 macbook pro core i7 (first gen) on lion and I can run 3 of my clients at once

ok, im new but why are you doing all this mumbo jumbo ? any particular reason ?
i fire once EVE client log in ... alt+tab to desktop and fire again the EVE online client icon ...

it starts and i login with another account, every thing is as i it should ...

are you talking about preferences and windows positions and other "personal" stuff ?

thx

Doing things this way risks corrupting things like overview settings, bookmark folders, or any other locally saved configuration. It also avoids using an extra 11GB of disk space that the "create another copy of EVE Online" would do.

Actually yeah, although it is true you can just fire up the same app now, the issue is that the multiple clients will use the same pref folder which slows down your play a lot and even sometimes I would get runtime errors, disconnects, etc. That's how it has usually been so thats why we look to make separate clients with separate pref folders :P

Hi folks - been using clone maker successfully on my main machine (Macbook Pro) but it is not working on my backup machine (Mac Mini). It launched okay, I select the master copy of Eve Online, then I get the following message:

cp: /Applications/Eve Online.app//Contents/MacOS/cider: No such file or directory

If I then try to run the clone that has been created I get the following message:

You can't open the application Eve Online - Clone1 because it may be damaged or incomplete.

I have done a complete reinstallation of the client from download, including clearing out the /Library folders, but still no joy. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Ok, fixed it by copying Clone Maker from my Macbook to my Mac Mini. The version on the Mini was downloaded today so it looks like there might be an issue with the current 'live' version.

I am having the exact same problem...any chance of an update or hint as to how it can be fixed?

I am having the same issue as well. If it means anything I am running mid 2011 iMac 12GBs RAM with latest version of OS X Lion.

I get the feeling CCP are probably not monitoring this thread.

I suggest that someone raises a bug report for this issue.

Right click on the eve client>show package contents
naviage to contents>resources
observe that there's another EVE Online.app inside
open up the script ccp gave and drag this hidden 'EVE Online.app' into the dialog
your clone will be dropped beside the hidden client, make sure you put it in applications.

Some further comments...
the script ccp gave us can be easily modified to automate the cloning, since this needs to be done for every update, it might be handy if someone would do so.
the clone will skip the launcher and you can skip the launcher in the main client by navigating opening the hidden client instead.

I just updated Eve client and any clone client I am creating fails to launch. It's says the app is damaged or incomplete.

What can I do to debug it and fix if?

(I am on os x snow leopard)

I am having the same problem with the EVE Clonemaker.app on OSX Lion (10.7.4).

What do you need CCP to fix this?

Edit: I have now tried the symlink method of multiple clients (http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Multiple_clients#Duplicating_EVE_Online.app_with_Symlinks) which also fails -- differently - when you click "Play" instead of playing, it starts downloading a new patch file for the entire game (5.91 GB).

Looks like the only method that actually works right now is to duplicate the entire EVE Online.app Application and go into the inner EVE Online.app and update the Info.plist files ala the directions at http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Multiple_clients#Duplicating_EVE_Online.app

I just downloaded the new clonemaker. It too is bugged. When run the clonemaker generates the error

cp: /Applications/EVE Online.app//Contents/MacOS/cider: No such file or directory.

Current workaround: use your old clones. They seem to download a client update, then run.

Duped client
went to info.plist .. for the old school workaround ..
info p.list is now vastly different ..
I changed both
CFBundleDisplayName and
CFBundleName to

EVE Online 2 ..
Launched .. but the second version launches as Eve Online 2 but then reverts to app name "Eve Online" thus using same cache and prefs as the original .. leading to freezes and dropouts ..

no way round it I can find

I am looking into this, seems that info.plist did in fact change. I was not aware of these changes so I am querying TransGaming about them before starting any work on updating the clone maker tool.

Will keep this thread updated.

Without being too cynical .. we aren't used to customer service of this level .. so thanks ..

in one of the other threads there is allusion to the existence of a 'shadow' client in the resources folder of the current eve client .. changing the info.plist in THIS one seems to get around the checksum autocorrect process of the eve launcher ..

just sayin ...
Moving forward .. EVERYONE I have ever played EVE with has more than one account .. rolling out a multiclient option should be standard .. not cobbled together by the users after the fact ..

As it turns out this is caused by a setting in TG's build system being wrong, expect to have this fixed in a patch before too long.

In the meantime I have been starting multiple clients by simply starting the same one multiple times, this used to be outlawed by Finder but since the launcher is now the first thing the EVE Online package starts up this is no longer an issue. As some have pointed out this will not give you the added benefit of separate settings but as a way to at least be able to run two instances of the client with limited hard drive space this should be a viable workaround for a couple of days.

If you however feel comfortable modifying the script of the clone maker or fiddling with info.plist files and .app packages yourself then you can also go that route.

I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience, the blame lies solely with myself since I made the last version of the clone maker and should be the one keeping an eye on it.
