Ok, I need some help with my nightmare fit for lvl 4 missions. Mind that this is in amarr space so there is a ton of sansha and blood missions, meaning heavy EM/Therm.

So here is the fit i came up with:

[Nightmare, missions]
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Tracking Enhancer II

EM Ward Field II
EM Ward Field II
Thermic Dissipation Field II
Thermic Dissipation Field II
X-Large Shield Booster II
Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800
Tracking Computer II, Tracking Speed Script

Tachyon Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
Tachyon Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
Tachyon Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
Tachyon Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency L
[empty high slot]
[empty high slot]

Large Semiconductor Memory Cell I
Large Semiconductor Memory Cell I
Large Semiconductor Memory Cell I

Hammerhead II x5

Cap last for 5 minutes, 48 seconds with everything active. The problem is that I'm not sure that's enough.

For your tips, keep in mind i do not want to put billion isk modules on this thing, thats just pure gank bait.

I know you don't need to be cap stable, but do you really bring the incoming dps down enough with a run time of only 1 and a half minute like the fit you showed me?

1min20 of cap is enough, because you only need to use your shield rep when needed. I can solo every lv4 my agent in Shuria is giving me and i never needed moar cap.

Ok, i'll give it a try. Keep in mind that if i lose the NM i'll send you a ragey eve mail you can show your corp mates :p

Keep in mind i have some faction stuff helping. Test your nightmare before using my fit and removing a therm hardener for a shield boost amplifier will help with the cap.

That's fine. There are some minor tweaks that could be suggested, like dropping the 4th hardner for a boost amp or an Afterburner (depending on the exact mission) and so forth, but your basic fit will function very well. You won't need to run everything continuously, because you'll be murdering rats so fast. Later, upgrade one of your cap rigs to T2, and acquire a set of +5% hardwirings as an early priority.

Incidentally: re semiconductors vs CC rigs. The CCCs provide a slightly higher cap/s, but the semis provide a far larger cap buffer. The more time the average mission lasts, the more the ccc rigs can catch up with the head start that the semis have.

3 T1 semi rigs give you an extra 13213-8688 = 4525 cap to start off with

3 T1 ccc rigs give you an extra 2.7 cap/s compared to the semis

Assuming you're keeping your capacitor at ~peak recharge for the whole mission, the ccc rigs become advantageous after 4525/2.7 = 1676 seconds; 28 minutes.

Most missions last much less than 28 minutes, and you will not in fact be at peak recharge for the whole time you're undocked. For a ship like the Nightmare with a large starting capacitor and a rather mediocre cap recharge, semis are arguably better unless you're in a position to accept multiple missions per undock.

When I ran a Nightmare I used a Pith Large booster on it. Not quite as micromanagey as an XL booster. I tend to get tunnel vision though, your mileage may vary, but it's plenty of tank.

if your numbers are correct, this is pretty interesting input. thank you for that.

I should buy an Ishtar.
