G'day from Team Pony Express

We've got the new combat message in the build.
You now see a scrolling list of damage notification (RED= Hits on you, BLUE= you hit others)
You can move these around by opening your log, and checking the settings

You can also move the non-damage notifications, as we've put them into a separate location.

Give us some idea of what you think of this, and if bits are still a bit flaky...

The log covers the upper message location when you make the log wider.. Minimum lines in the log needs to be reduced.Twisted
Text size needs to be adjustable to. Please

I never understand you! P Could you please further explain what you mean by your first point (for us that are a little slow)? Smile

And we have changed the fontsize to 12 now.
(I haven't checked duality, but I really hope the text is not all messed up because of something I was doing yesterday What?)

I should add that someone (I don't want to name any names but her dev name rhymes with karkur) accidentally removed the settings from the log window, so don't worry if you notice them gone, they will be back soon P

The default log position is middle top if you expand the window wider and center it then go to the new very cool positioning menu the top movable window is 99% covered by the log. The default location for the old notification window need be moved so it is easier to find. A long standing issue with the combat log is the fact that it can not be reduced to show less then 6 rows of info. Now that the scroll will be in HUD it will be used to confirm what was seen so the number of rows can be reduced.

Circumstantial Evidence

This is coming along nicely!

1. Can you create a second place to adjust the location of damage notification: I would like to right-click in empty space, choose Configure, and see the "move notifications" option added to the Update Location Settings UI. (and perhaps change the name of this window so it can be used for additional settings)

Damage notices appear in space, I first right-clicked in space, hoping to find configuration options there.

It would be nice to be able to click and hold on a notification as it appears, stopping updates in place, and be able to drag / drop to change message position. Or, add a positioning anchor icon for these notifications, the way it is done for locked targets at the top of the screen.

2. "Enter moving mode for messages" might be expressed better as
[Change or Set] [location or position] of [damage or combat] notifications

I'm guessing the current text is preliminary :)

This is how we were first going to implement it, but that requires the box to be interactable, which we 99.99% of the time don't want... and we also didn't want to have a floating anchor that might look like a bracket for something.
We might change how you enter/exit the move mode and where from, thanks for your suggestions Smile

How about a move-mode in for all your windows while in space just like the teamspeak overlay. You press a single button to enter 'move mode' and untill you press that button again, all you can do is rearrange your windows.

Perhaps to make it clearer, when in moving mode, it can say "This is example non-combat text." and "This is example combat text." so it's obvious which is which.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Will do! The text were just temporary, but we will be changing them into clear descriptive text explaining what it is.

Here is a screenshot.

At the bottom of the screen you can see that I've dragged both the combat text and non-combat text down. You are able to drag the text bars all across the screen, and the text will align to the left or right if you place it on either side of the screen, which is a neat feature.

Unfortunately, with the non-combat text bar things can look kind of strange with the text alignment as the text is bound to a box that has a fixed width. This can be seen when you align to an object, or stopping your ship, or otherwise performing an action that would result in only a short line of status text. Another good example would be if you attempted to use the new safe logoff feature while locking something which would provide two lines of text, one long and one short (consisting of only a few words) because of the fixed width.
