Buckingham has been updated with the latest test build for the Retribution expansion. We will try to keep it updated as much as possible with nearly daily updates. Duality will be closed as we don't need two servers for the same thing.

Please use this thread for general feedback and discussion of the current client on Buckingham. Please use the feature-specific threads for feedback for these feature. Please post in this thread, if no feature specific thread exists.

Features available to test:

Mass Tests

Mass tests are planned for Tuesday, the 13th November and for Thursday, the 22nd November. More information on these later.

Known Issues

  • In some cases it is possible to break the Inventory window. It might be needed to relog in these cases.

Bug reports
Please write bug reports about any bugs which you find (and which do not exist on TQ) - except known issues in the list above.

For anyone interested the download to update the Duality client to Buckingham client (443330 -> 445378) is 185.14 MB

The update from a TQ client may well be much larger.

So, the winter build is going to add yet another 1.5gigs worth of memory to our already bloated Eve client folders? Not a fan.

The client folder itself is increasing from ~10.8GB on TQ to ~11.1GB on Buckingham - after deleting old .patch files.

Well I’ve done a tentative trial run on Buckingham and not much has changed it seems. The things that didn’t work on Duality still don’t work on Buck, a few more extra things don’t seem to work on my client but I’m investigating why.

Still at a loss as to why if I click the tiny little button to ‘Enable Compact Mode’, my cargo hold will not open but just put an extra icon on the Neocom, clicking this twice slowly then opens the cargo window. Turn it off and it works just fine.

However I must admit you have my thanks for putting it in, compact mode is pure bliss if I have many windows open.

Moving the ‘Point Camera at Selected’ option to the hidden menu almost made me sea sick until I found out how to turn it off. I liked it better under the button strip then I could flick it on/off when needed but I guess you had to move it to add the ‘extremely’ large target square so we can select where the point will swing towards.

I can confirm the client is 11.1 Gig Shocked

How in the wide world of sports do i disable this idiotic camera swinging/focusing thing that is just all sorts of unnatural? Can find no obvious options in any of the obvious places.

If you can't tell, this is me saying i don't like this 'feature' and wish there was some place i could turn it off.

-----edit----

Thank you above poster....was too disoriented to read any new posts...i shall now dig into the hidden menus...

---Edit #2----

It does not seem to be remembering the state of the "track selected Item" check box between docks...might want to check that out...

Changed working duality client shortcut to point at Buckingham, and get this "unexpected" error.
Do I HAVE TO recopy the entire TQ installation again?
Does this error mean launcher is out of sync and I should try /forceupdate?
Eve-offline status monitor says Buckingham is up, as I write this.

Don't know if you have solved this yet but you have two options;

Option 1
This assumes you already have a working copy of the last (yesterdays) Duality client.

In the folder where you had your Buckingham client delete the \eve folder and everything in it.
Now make a copy of your \eve folder from Duality and paste in your Buckingham folder to replace the old client.

Either use your old shortcut to Buckingham or create a new one to point to this client and start it up. Make sure the shortcut is pointing to /server:87.237.38.69, if you run this shortcut it should download a patch to update the client to version 445378 (about 185 MB).
When the [Play] button lights up, give it a try.

Option 2
If you don’t have a working copy of the Duality client then it’s the long way I’m afraid.
Do the same as above but use a copy of your current TQ client.
The download based on my last update of a TQ client will be over 1.5 Gig.

Hope that will get you on line.

Jesus *****-******* christ what is this drunk camera meant to be doing?! It's not focused on what I select or mouse over, just swinging around wildly. Seriously, I can click my ship or another object and neither will be the focus/center.

And as for turning it off, where is zee buttan?!

I'm all for a better camera, but what the hell is this thing meant to be doing, and are you aware it's ******** instead?

My god how broken do you want it? It doesn't track what you select if from an expanded stack of brackets(e.g. all at a distant celestial), but does move the camera instantly. It doesn't do this if you've selected your ship though. It will fight you re-angling the camera back towards your ship, but then when you change zoom or click again it will do the opposite and quickly focus on yourself after all.

Still can't see (Don't) this track selected item option...

OK it's in the 4-lines hidden dropdown menu of Selected Item. Of course.
Also that Set tracking onscreen position thing spawns a new giant bracket for every click...

I'm on buckingham now. Got tired of messing with individual files so I made a fresh copy of TQ client and went through the whole 1.5 GB download.

The Duality client config that I was using included many files from previous expansion test clients, upgrade over upgrade. I guess it was time to wipe the slate clean.

You don’t actually ‘need’ to make a new copy of the client but to preserve your sanity you might find it the best way forward.

You could use a Duality client if you already have one and just point the /server: to Buckingham in the shortcut settings. But if you do this and for some reason you need to change back to Duality then you would have to make a new client anyway.

Whatever you do ‘DO NOT’ use your current TQ client unless you make a copy of it or you will be unable to join TQ again without downloading the full TQ client and installing it again.

On my main gamer rig I have 4 copies of the clients one each for TQ, SiSi, Duality and now Buckingham (about 50 Gig in total including all the patch files).
