I'd rather put those bucks in to another game until someone gets his fingers out of the warm hole to fix our issues.
Downgrade OS to play Eve ??

lol?

Well, it wouldn't just be for EVE. I really dislike some of the Windows 8 features, like the fact that it seems designed for touch screen and I'm definitely not using a touch screen, etc. And I'm not sure, but it seems like some people are saying Windows 7 benchmarks better, and if that's true, that's what I care about, not all this aesthetic stuff that came pre-rolled into my new comp

If you actually search for information about Win8 64 vs Win7 64 performance there are a couple ones on the internet and you'll quickly figure out Win8-64 with the top benchmark tools/overclocking yada ya puts win8 a good step above in performance.

This metro interface sure sucks a little bit until you get used to it, but you can get rid of it and keep the regular bureau without an ounce of a problem.

And imo when you start thinking rolling back your OS because CCP/Eve is not able to adapt it's a little bit hilarious when the MOTD of the game is "Adapt or die" right? Lol
I've got no worries they will sort it out at some point, what makes me angry is the fact they accept my money but have no worries if I can't decently play the stuff I pay for. At least when you download the client you should get a huge box telling you "You might not be able to play if you use Windows 8 versions"
That would save me 2 accounts sub for a couple months until it's sorted.

Well you can find some serious comments+tips about this on the internet but in what I'm concerned about, this metro stuff ****** me up so bad I just disabled all the active "Metro" features (weather/info etc), then only have to click on bureau to have my usual bureau. (I know there's a way to make it boot directy like that but haven't done it yet)

To do this when you're in your Metro interface just right click on those active features, you'll see some pannel with options show up on the bottom of your screen, you can then desactivate and even supress them.

Once you're on your bureau you can also use conf. pannel and go to security, then disable "Smartscreen" and don't forget to check the box "disable smartscreen messages"
This is an integrated security feature of Windows 8 useless when you use an anti virus (imo).

Sorry if this is not much of a help but once you get used to it it's just like another win version but easier and way faster.
Running some hardware intensive games and having an awesome gaming experience with top gc settings except with Eve, it's the only game I have messing up that hard.

Take a look at this, you might find it interesting

Windows 8 like Windows 7, but faster. And it's free Cool

Im running 2 clients on 2 screens in fixed window mode. When Im switching between them (ALT+TAB) or manually switching. The other becomes minimized. So i cant run both cliends in fixed-window-mode.
Window-mode workes fine but looks ugly because of these window-borders.

Any idea when games start to support Windows 8? It's fine for my other games so far but Eve Online, I just want it to work without risk of crashing during a lvl 4 mission :/

Ok, I disabled those live/active metro features, disabled aero, and disabled smartscreen.

Saw that link, but not sure if I want to download a third party to get my start button back, it really should just be an included option.

You can check if there's any virus/malware whatsoever but indeed, this should be an integrated option and will probably be one quite soon.

Awesome stuff

Are we ever going to get a dev/ccp response? Even a timeline of when Windows 8 is expected to be supported?

I just crashed while loading my eve-mails and scrolling down (eve.exe not responding...etc like always)...

You can always run one in fixed window mode on your primary, and the other in windowed mode (dragged to the other monitor). That's what I do. I agree, I'd prefer both in fixed window mode, but it's not possible.

I am getting massive amount of DCs after that last patch (EVEDUST). I've seen people suggesting on doing the ping tests so I did in case it helps I'm pasting it.

I am having a major issue in game atm. Occasionally when i lock a target my game crashes, and when i close it and try and log back in i will usually crash 2-3 more times before i can get back in. At that point my ship is usually dead.... I love this game but I am currently unable to fly any ships of value due to this issue happening frequently. I just recently switched over from windows 7 to windows 8. It doesnt happen every time i lock something but several times a day i have this issue.

I'm thinking with all these crashes and highspec PC's (myself included - but I don't suffer from crashes) it's not necessarily a Windows 8 thing, but could be a PC hardware thing.

What I mean, is that it may be that these seriously overclocked or beefy (read hexa-core) PC's haven't been built with adequate cooling or are overclocked so much to the hilt that the littlist thing will send them over the edge and cause crashes.

Has anyone who is suffering from crashes tried to run burn in tests (e.g. Uniengine bencmarks, stress tests etc) of their system and report crashes then too?

Win8 uses little hardware resources compared with all previous win versions, in fact from an usual overclocker point of view it's the very first time I have the feeling I can get the best out of my cpu/mem/GPU without even pushing it to it's limits because it's clearly unnecessary, this OS clearly uses a very very limited amount or resources to turn or make things turn on top, it's really impressive how your benchmarks turn on it without OC whatever.
It's a very new direction windows8 as platform took compared with all previous windows versions I've ever had or tested.

My guess goes around the fact game core programing is old and is little compatible with this win version, I just can't and don't want to change this OS, it's far too awesome. But I also can't think CCP will not do something about it, because it's so obviously good (after you've hard tested it), at some point this OS stand point could become another reference for Eve programing/evolution as XP was for almost a decade.

They will sort it out at some point, we just need to be patient which I agree, I'm not very much Lol

My point wasn't that Win8 is using a lot of hardware resources, but heat problems with overclocked and not stable system configuration problems could be causing the crashes.

Can you please post your CPU and MB specs:
