I guess it is possible for our thousands to be responcible for more scamming than any of the combined hundreds of thousands of people who aren't goons.

Just like blobbing. It's only when 1000 people want to shoot things together instead of ~solo pvp~ that you become the scum of space.

Actually I put my "GRRRRR" before I put "GOONS". Note the "S" on the end of "GOON". This is to show I am aware that there are many of you. Plus I feel that typing in capitals really conveys how angry I am about you all.

Ok well then it has to be this "Blue List" thing, your angry because Goonswarm is unwilling to co-operate and co-exist with other alliances and corporations and instead makes them allies and establishes safe transit of good and services through their space. Oh hell that sounds almost like cooperation and co-existence.

OK OK I got it, Goonswarm absorbs all these corporations and turns them into a faceless blob unable to be identified as individuals...no wait... damn it, they won't even let anyone join their corp unless they've been on the SA forums for an extended period of time.


So Goonswarm's list of CRIMES is as follows:

They establish a peaceful network of trade within null-security space.
They provide vital elements of T2 Production to high-security space, at a profit. (Damn 1%)
They provide drama, driven by players, which represents sizable content for Hi-Sec, Low-Sec and Null-Sec players.
They interact with the community in online discussion forums.

Yep, they seem like the bad guys to me.

And by offenders you mean what exactly?

Are we offending peoples senseability by understanding what EVE is? Are we offending their tastes by not being illiterate one liner trolls? Is it the ability of some to the technical and creative work needed to build a news site? You're goals are to cause grief and upset. Your recruitment threads have graphs about the people you've upset, and your alliance presentations boast about the tears of people who have done nothing wrong to you. Admittedly, lots of 0.0 alliances do this to some extent - but TEST and Goons have setup entire infrastructures for achieving this.

The difference, since it's not clear to some people, is thus: Dealing with Goonswarm is like dealing with the Hell's Angels.

You got griefed/scammed and lost millions of ISK/your favorite ship/your POS/an entire fleet. What are you going to do about it?

If the offending party was less than a dozen people in a tiny player corp, well then you can wardec them or hire mercenaries or what-have-you. You can retaliate yourself or hire others to do it for you. Even if they're a little larger than you, you can still jut chose your fights more carefully and come out on top. In other words, revenge is a viable and most often preferred option.

If the offending party was Goonswarm, what are you going to do about it? Try to hire freelancers willing to take them on? Go after their fleets? Try to wear down the sheer economic might of hundred ship mining-bot fleets running 23/7? Act surprised when they show up at your doorstep with a hundred Drakes that they will happily feed to CONCORD just to grief you one step out of your docking bay fifty times in a row because they've turned exploiting game mechanics into a profit machine so powerful that they honestly do not care that they're throwing away a hundred Drakes to CONCORD just so long as they can have the satisfaction of griefing you fifty times in a row? In other words, when you get raped by Goonswarm, you don't call the cops because that will only make them come after you again and a hundred times harder.

Furthermore, the only alliances big enough to take on Goonswarm are the same ones already in bed with them, so you can forget about a "revolution" amongst the playerbase to try to get rid of them. The only viable weapon against Goonswarm is to simply avoid them altogether and wait for their own short attention spans to kick in.

So if someone found a djinni bottle and wished Goonswarm away, would that be a good thing? I can't say for sure, but I'm confident that it wouldn't be a bad thing. Yes, more hate filled thirteen year olds would quickly fill the void in minutes, but I seriously doubt that they would ever be organized enough to ever form such massive conflagration of negative game experience for the rest of the EvE community any time soon. It would revert back to the small, in-fighting groups all blasting each other over the proverbial "Sword in the Stone" that Goonswarm left behind, and because of all that in-fighting none of them would ever gain the strength to actually achieve that goal.
