No-one seems interested in this in the ships and mods section so I thought I'd ask the guys who are likely to be actually flying ships like this Pirate

This is for hunting with a support group in tow. I just want to keep the target in place for a minute or two while the heavy hitters move in. EFT shot below.

Tackling Arazu

Basically the way I see it is that I find someone ratting in a belt (for example), and get to about 17-20km before I decloak, lock and scramble and sensor damp. I use the MWD to maintain the 17-20km range since their MWD should be disabled.

I should be able to keep most ships locked down for a while in this fashion until damage dealers arrive.

I'd add some ECM drones for insurance. I'd send them out if he was being slippery and I thought he might just get into web range or if a buddy of his shows up and I need to quickly break a lock and gtfo.

The only problem I can see with this is with drone boats. A swarm of fast moving drones could cause me problems. With this in mind I could swap my drone bay so it has 5 Warrior IIs for countering and only 3 ECMs.

Thoughts?

You have no tank and a flight of warriors or any other drones would kill you. Lose all the speed mods and those rigs and fit a DC and some kind of armour tank.

The chances of finding anything ratting in a belt that didn't actually want to be caught is very slim and even if you did find one it would certainly be so bad that you could solo it in an Arazu and holding it in place for a backup fleet is worthless.

Anything smart will warp out when you decloak. What you want to do is decloak before you land on grid.

PvPers will likely assume you are cyno bait and will blob or avoid accordingly which will lose you fights you could have otherwise have had if you were in something more innocuous like a Myrmidon.

In a duo, Arazu and Rapier can be a very effective combination for holding things in place. Arazu's are great ships.

Thank you, very useful advice.

An armour tank is a good idea and I'll look into it.

As much as it pains me to admit it, you're probably right about the belt ratters. I reckon the best kills will come from probing out low sec mission runners.

Damps are ok in some pretty specific situations. They are not always useful though and if someone gets in on you they're downright useless. Know what is actually useful in almost every situation? Having a tank. Also, you're tackling for your group, you should be worried about tackling well. One single close range point isn't going to cut it.

Armor tanking is certainly a way to go but I'd rather have some speed and agility and the ability to kite or flee than to get stuck in the melee with a 1600mm plate on in my 150 million isk recon.

In other words, I'd rather fit a shield tank and more points than damps. There are certainly a lot of ways you could fly it but I prefer the way where I can tackle and hold down targets for my gang to handle and the way where I don't have to buy a new Arazu every day.

Well. That's probably the worst fit I've ever seen.
