On both accounts too, but what the hell is up with the 12-15 rpm rof without overheating, the same as a bolt action rifle?

Your beloved AK (You're the same as a furry btw)

The better rifle Big smile (yes I know that's an M4 but my point stands)

A lot of it is referenced, by the way, HORRIBLY referenced with facts. Those darned facts! But just in case you haven't, you might want to check them.

FYI, I don't care what American rifle you personally like, it's smaller, compact European gear like the P90 and H&K SMGs that outperform all of it at the end of the day. The M16 was always a joke, the M4 is such a clout to maintain and that's why the US is replacing them both with the SCAR series (which incorporates a LOT of stuff coming outta Eurotech).

I'm Australian, so I have no personal bias here - we don't make ****, we just take what already exists and make it better. But if there's one thing we do know, it's quality over quantity, which is why we use the F88 Steyr as our primary AR and not the M16 or M4.

This was actually a typo - I meant the AK47 could fire their own 7.62x39 and the American 7.62x39mm - no, the AK47 cannot fire the 54, that was a typo. It can fire other types, as well, just can't remember off the top of my head.

But, while we're on the subject of M16 vs AK47...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_the_AK-47_and_M16#Ammunition

There has never been an "American 7.62x39mm" cartridge - sure, you might find American companies manufacturing it, but it's the same design. Unless you're thinking of the 7.62x51mm cartridge, which I strongly doubt could be fed into an AK without remachining the receiver (and likely the barrel)

I would have to look it up, which I can't be bothered doing right now, but I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that this can indeed be done. Although I may also be mistaken, or mistaking it for another weapon.

EDIT: Upon doing some research anyway, I have found that the AK47 will only chamber a 7.62x39mm round. I stand corrected.

I know that there are configurations of the AK that take 7.62x54 - like the Dragunov sniper.

I own a G3 clone (PTR91F) that shoots 7.62x51 and those rounds will split cinder blocs and go straight through 0.75 in steel plate at 100 yards without stopping.

Good job.

If the AK-47 is go great how come Russia doesn't use it anymore?

Are you saying you are a superior army specialist than what the Russians have?

The M16 is a great weapon, its had its flaws, but its been improved and remains on service to this day.

Russians took after our idea and converted their AK-47 to Ak-74 with the 5.45 X 39 mm round.

Yeah, please leave the Aussies out of this. They have been a uniformly competent and ethical lot.

Much more accurate than you'd expect.

Looked like he missed a bunch... firing the M16 that slowly and I'd hit it every time Cool

*Edit: From 500 meters Pirate

Not a target that small, in wind, while it is swinging around unpredictably.

Virtually all of those would have hit a man sized target. 2 misses. That was a bowling pin, FYI. The AK would also have penetrated body armor, something the M16 simply won't do.
Actually, because the round in the 7.62 is so big and it tumbles the body armor we wear will stop it from entering our bodies and hitting vital organs. While the 5.56 on a 1/7 twist is a smaller round and will penetrate it.

SLAP .308 rounds defeat Class III and III+ military at the right range. Conventional .308 will defeat vehicle bodywork, CII and CII+ reliably. Don't know at extended range.
Maybe you're wearing better body armor than that.

Oh well, it doesn't matter in the end. The US is as good as owned by the Chinese.

I was under the impression that the SAS was the Special Air Services and was a British outfit.

Also the Spetsnaz are Russian...
