Since CCP is working towards "no DT" I think this will become a redundant thread - except on expansion day since that will be euro time most likely.

The code is so complex and legacy (CCP's words, my words would get squashed by the u-know-who's) that I'm not holding my breath that "no DT" happens for a loooong time - with "never" being more probable. Other much more lucrative projects will suck up the Dev time.

As soon as I started playing this game the DT advantage was the first thing I noticed. Since anom's spawn throughout the day, I still can't understand why roids and other such tidbits don't do the same already.

Would be interesting if they had some stats on memory allocation growth over the "day". :D

PS. CCP says it can't just move people to a reinforced node when things get busy - the code was never designed to do it. Hit me the other day that jump ships do it all the time. :D

How on earth do the EUTZ benefit from a downtime at 11am? I am currently sitting at work wondering how all these things respawning etc in an hour benefits me in any way.

In fact the best way to benefit the EUTZ would be to have the downtime at about 17:30 EVE time, that way it can all be up and ready just as we come home from work and have eaten a meal.

0/10 for OP

Also, Soon™ there will be no DT.

Deal with it.

Although "no downtime" is a long term goal, in the mean time it would be nice to have spawns not tied to the daily cycle. A better solution than changing downtime would be to divorce the re-spawn mechanics from the downtime cycle. I know anomalies and sigs already spawn any time. I think the public belts are the only thing still tied to downtime. (What else?)

I'm not in the dev team, so I am only speculating, but apparently some things like corporation derived standings are still calculated at downtime. I believe a character's derived standings are recalculated at login or logout time these days. There is apparently something to do with outposts (anchoring? changing ownership?) that still requires downtime since it reaches deep into the database.

The interesting thing about asteroid spawning is that we already have the system in place to entirely divorce asteroid respawns from downtime: it's just that someone in CCP has decided that requiring miners to probe down endless supplies of grav sites would be too onerous Evil

I like the mentality of EVE players. If they directly need something (better distribution of spawns), they will start asking about something indirect (slip the downtime) or even convoluted sometimes. Instead of, you know, just asking for what they actually want without messing with random stuff that just so happens currently relevant to topic in question, but doesn't have to (remove dependance on downtime for spawns to take place).

Tbh I'm not even sure that all spawns are tied to downtimes...

The static complexes that you warp to without probing are, the others are pretty random though.
