I used to play a lot of Dungeons and Dragons.

De'Veldrin comes from the Dark Elf language and roughly translated means "Of Shadows".

Did I mention I played A LOT of Dungeons and Dragons?

De'Veldrin's Corollary (to Malcanis' Law): Any idea that seeks to limit the ability of a large nullsec bloc to do something in the name of allowing more small groups into sov null will inevitably make it that much harder for small groups to enter sov null.

Mine is a nod to an old but very popular Sci Fi series.

Alright I have to ask - which one? The only reference I could find was to a partially successful NASA launch to test equipment in 1961.

Edit: Unless it's a reference to the Anla-shok Na from B5.

Back in 1986 I was reading Dr Who novels and needed a nickname Sidrat comes from there plus there's a reference to A really nice tree that acts as a border marker with a very similar spelling.

Its time to stand up against the bad empire based CEO telling falsehoods about what new characters can accomplish and pushing them towards an in game experience of drudgery and loneliness keeping them in the shadow of ignorance for at nest their own profit at worse apathy towards all the experiences that Eve has to offer.

Sarmea Moon
Aliastra

#39 - 2012-10-31 17:33:07 UTC
I used to use Newmoon for everything, since D&D in the 70's. Then some schmuck wrote some book with that name as a main character. I used it up until UO Trammel/ Everquest, then someone told me about the book, and why I was seeing so many recent clones of the name.

Sigh, so I kicked my then 7 year old son and said "Make a name for Mommy!!" and he said "Sarmea Moon!" (Or "I'm cleaning my room!!" Not sure. Meh, close enough) Tada. I've used it in nearly every MMO since.

The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse [lady of commercial virtue]. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary.- James Nicoll
