We are two friends starting on EVE; my mate had a mission where he recieved an implant he already had and he wanted to give it to me, but we cannot figure out how he can deliver it to me.

We are now trying to jettison it, but i was wondering if he could kind of "email" it to me or some sort.

Thx.

Both of you can dock up in the same station and do a direct trade. This is so you don't have to drop it in a jetcan and worry someone might steal it.

Guest tab in your stations window > Find their name or he/she finds yours > Right click > Trade > Drag the item into the Trade Window > Accept > Done, the item will be in your inventory.

Note you can't "email" items you have to go pick it up where it is. So if you are 2 Jumps away from where the item is you have to go get it.

Ah! Ninj'd by theStar...

You can't send physical items across space. The same as in RL. However, if you are both at the same station, you can select the 'trade" option in the dropdown window form double clicking on your friend, from People and Places.

Only the first one to dock in the station will be granted the option to set up a trade. Then you just drag and drop the item or items from the inventory to the trade window.

Both parties then click "accept" and it will transfer the item into the other inventory.

Long story short (short story short actually) y activated the implant, set my homebase on autopilot and alt-tabbed to read this forum.

After a couple of minutes I thought it was taking too long so I tabbed back just to see my ship blown to pieces...

Not only that, my pod was blown away.

So I lost my ship and the implant.

I thought I could not get killed in hisec, i mean i know i CAN get killed, just thought wouldnt happen :-(

Live and learn.

Is there any way I can see who/what killed me? Like an aftermath log?

Chances are, you didn't get killed in hisec. You probably went through lowsec and didn't check your path.

Go into your character sheet, then combat log. There should be a dropdown menu where you can select losses, which will show you the details. The information in these kill reports is often uploaded to third party killboards.

...In your case, I'm guessing it was this. You went into Amamake, a .4 system. It is also a very heavily-traveled path and thus almost constantly camped by Heretic Army, the guys who killed you - The amamake - Ossogur gate is a deathtrap if you aren't prepared.

You can avoid this by either setting your autopilot to avoid all lowsec (F10 -> autopilot -> settings) or avoiding specific systems by right clicking them anywhere and adding them to your avoid list (Though in the case of Amamake, I'd avoid Ossogur, as there are other paths leading through it that are generally safer).

You`ve experienced some dude`s teachings regarding the use of autopilot firsthand :) i.e. never ever touch that button again. It is there, but it doesn`t exist. Get the gist :> ?

I just took a look at battleclinic...

Looks like you`ve plotted a nasty course through low-sec ! (0.4-0.1 Security status).

Having realized that autopilot led you through low-sec (you can configure it properly to avoid systems such as low-sec) don`t feel tempted to use it even in high-sec (0.5 and above). People can easily spot this and gank you just for kicks.

First, you flown into low-sec, and of all low-sec in EVE one of the most hostile places of all - Amamake.

Second, as you said, you know you CAN be killed in high-sec, so EXPECT to be killed every time you hit the undock button, hence rule no 1: Don't fly what you can't afford to loose.

Third, if you open your character sheet and then go to Combat log, in there it will list all kills and losses by you. Double click one of them to open up a more detailed view. You can also go to EVE-kill.net, battleclinic or any other killboard website to see your combat history.

Thank you guys, great answers.
I don“t mind getting myself blown up as long as i learn something and move on.

As i said before, "live and learn" in EVE would be "die and learn"

Sounds like everyone covered everything. I think it's also worth mentioning that you can transfer items between characters using contracts. I'm not going to explain them, but make a mental note to look into them. With no skills at all you can create 1 contract at a time.

Also, IIRC, private contracts are quite cheap to make.

Hah, that's funny.

You'll also want to avoid APing in high sec in smaller ships (or a pod) simply because there is a growing number of -10.0 pilots who are actively seeking these players out and podding them. I know of one mailing list where the tally is posted daily.

You can anchor a secure container in 0.7 or lower, give it a password, then use it for exchanging any item that fits inside.
