Im building spaceships for a living, like the megathron, kronos and the new caldari destroyer for this expansion. I still have many other ships in the works that unfortunately wont be in this expansion or in the next one :D

Glad to hear this bunny, your work on the megathron model and subsequent skins is amazing. Furthermore, The caldari destroyer is simply a work of art. Nice lines, nice concept, nice execution.

Now I do have a few questions. First and foremost being... Do you intend to have t2 and faction ship models more heavily differentiate from their parent ships in the future? Second, When can we expect fully remodeled drones that look like they designed to function as they do in game? Third, Can we expect to have more high slot modules such as nos/nuet, RR modules, and maybe even gang links be represented by external hull mounted models?

honestly I have no clue when or if we are going to remodel the drones and regarding the representation of the highslot modules you have to ask someone else :D

The model in the picture just a different shader+texture but we are thinking of getting rid the machinegun look of the ship itself and i make sure that the amazing ccp phor will do a proper job with the concepting of the new one.

just PLEASE promise me it will still have the same general shape as i have loved the general design since i arrived in EVE and it was my first battlehsip and also my favorite, also its one of the largest battlehsips as i feel it should be anyways :-P

It looks like a bent banana split... The only thing to love is the weapon system
No no no no - If you want a beautiful layout look at the Rokh / Naga - THAT is how REAL ships are built.

No complaints here if you want to get rid of the gun look to it. Just make sure to watch him and make sure he doesn't do something stupid, like putting some odd piece sticking out the side like the Omen. If he does, please proceed to hit him in the head, followed by a prompt "no". :P

If you would, please ask for permission to post early, early rough drafts of your new Dominix hull. You'd cause such a stir of joy in the community, even if it gets scrapped for something different.

any chance the art department could show us some more of the concept art they do even the stuff that doesn't make it, some of the ones that don't make it in i personally think are brilliant, like some of the new amarr dessie concept art witht he ones that looked "to much like a frigate" would be pretty cool for an actual frigate i think if another frigate was indeed introduced

I second that. I forget how far in that last video it was, but he was showing various sketches for the Amarr destroyer and near the last of his sketches was this totally freakin' awesome concept. The front was pointed forward and was split into 4 pieces.
Right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZCn6x1-j_8&t=2m2s

That was awesome. and they didn't use it :( If it looks too much like a frigate, make it a frigate! XD Replace that fugly Imperial Navy Slicer with that. Right now it looks like an Executioner with down syndrome -_-

Well first of if i find a thread that is art related and i can actually answer the question or whatever i will propably reply to it, it could be a proper answer, a troll or a tease depending on my mood Cool.

Right now the kronos on duality is using the same model and textures from the megathron but with a different shader and stuff.
The Megathron model itself wont change but because the fixed texture that i can see at work does make the ship look alot better.

A tease! A tease! Of ANY ship in progress! I'm sure everyone would love that! Maybe if I ask nicely: PLEASE!! Big smile

Agreed lots of current models really could do with being replaced with dynamic awesome designs especially T2 variants like command ships and HACS/Recons should really have more unique models instead of being a coloured in version of the T1 variant.
Maybe the sentinel could get one of those amarr pics for its design the EAF's could do with being more aggressive and dynamic looking and hopefully they will get the buff to match then :).. you can only hope.

T3's need to be versatile so no rigs are necessary ... they should not have OP dps and tank

ABC's should be T2, remove drone assist, separate HAM's and Torps range, -3 HS for droneboats

why cant that atron just have the same sized wings? why does everything have to be wonky?!!!!!

Well many of those concepts need to be looked at again after the last of the frig balance. Since Tristan is now the full drone ship and navitas as support.

Because EVE is a mix of designs styles, with regards to symmetry and asymmetry, half of the ships in EVE belong in one group and the other half in the other.

Gallente ships, like the Atron are beautiful. I've always been fascinated with the idea that Gallente ships were grown rather than manufactured, with biomechanical engineering at its finest, second to the Jove (Think the Navigators from Alien, or any of Giger's designs). The odd, organic and sometimes asymmetrical shapes really stand out from the other races and that's what makes them so damn cool, as long as the ship looks functional, excess or one sided wingy bits are a nice design feature.

I still hope that when they consider the Caracal and Moa for remodelling (It's going to happen, considering that everything else is slowly getting the treatment), both the silhouettes of the ships aren't drastically changed, and that the Caracal and Moa don't get obvious shaded glass-ish bridges. I cannot stress this enough. These two ships in particular would just look cooler without dumb cockpits at the front of the ship. If anything like that is ever done at the cruiser level it should more resemble the Omen (or current Caracal) than what happened to the Drake with that tiny glass bubble.

Just my two cents.

this completely

symmetry is boring and bland, asymmetry is much more interesting and organic.

stop letting graphic designers make ships and get some artists to do it :P

Asymmetry *is* beautiful. Asymmetry for asymmetry's sake is not. Hulls that are obvious ugly boats like the Moa and Celestis come to mind should be changed. There can be a lot of beauty in asymmetry. I look at the redesigned Velator, for example, and I think it looks cool being asymmetric. Look at the new Tempest hull, too, and you'll see strikingly beautiful asymmetry. But ships like the Blackbird, and previously mentioned Moa and Celestis, sure could use some love. With other asymmetric ships, it's hit or miss. The Condor, for example, I think looks ok being asymmetrical. The Griffin, not so much.

We just need to see some love for the ugly ducklings. Not all of them need it, but the ones that are nearly universally despised for their garish looks, do.
