Reputation does not only mean standings.

It also means possible fame he may have that gives him an exceptional income opportunity.
He may have a corporation that made a name for itself.
If he has something like that, he would surely be able to show and explain it the best.

Such information could be very valuable.


Except for the fact that the rules specifically state that you are forbidden to pass yourself off as the previous owner. The character must also be in an NPC corp.


That is true, but the fame and reputation do not get wiped out, thus the opportunity still existent.
Rejoining the corp is easily done by reapplying and claiming the roles again.
Bottom line: It counts

Well I am contemplating about one character, but not a really good one for the ISK I am willing to pay.

The fact that I bumped the thread just minutes before you posted should be an indicator that I am still on the search.
