PS As for EHP, I advocated removing the rig slots on supercapitals. The only thing they're ever used for is T2 EHP rigs (or T1 when they're purchased by idiots)

I'm pretty sure I said this too (somewhere). It removes something like 30-40% of a supercap's typical EHP, which is hardly crippling but means a supercap has a smaller margin of error if you do something stupid with it. It also sidesteps the weird anomaly we have currently where the same size rig is used for both battleships and Titans.

Not to mention that they also add a couple of bill to the "real" price of the supercap, and they artificially inflate the T2 armor and shield rig market.

Titans were originally made to be a deterrent to blobbing by giving them a powerful AoE weapon. It was later realised that this was not fun (for anyone other than the titan pilot) as it often killed fleet fights before they started by wiping out a whole fleet. It was also realised to be a node killing lag monster. Finally it was admitted that it did not really deter players from blobbing.

So in Dominion super capitals were re-designed as Capital ship killers - in the case of Titans the AoE effect was replaced with a one-shot death ray which can pop a dreadnaught in one shot (depending on fit). They also IIRC gained the current damage bonus to XL guns in Dominion. Unfortunately that same deathray can be used to kill any other ship class other than another super capital. They also have XL guns that don't suffer from a dreads siege mode tracking penalty.

Titans are not meant to be good at anti-sub capital warfare, they are meant to be good at capital ship killing. The fact that they still can kill sub caps so easily is a design flaw. Like supercarriers, Dominion gave Titans more flexibility than they should really have for their raw power.

So basically you are agreeing with the point I made, that the Titan's role was that of subcap blob killer.

I am perfectly aware of all the other stuff in your post, painfully so, but they are unrelated to the point I was specifically responding to.

I was underscoring the point that their former role has not been the case for about 2 years now. Once upon a time stealth bombers could not use covert cloaks and fired cruise missiles, that does not mean a great deal for any future changes as the current and long standing design is very different.

Titans as they are right now are not meant to kill sub caps, but that is what they are frequently being used for.

I agree with the nerf - but I want to add that I don't see a reason why it would not be possible to add a script type to the racial DDs that allows you to target either subcaps or capitals, but requires a SMA to change between.

This would allow different effects and penalties to be given in each mode such as a probability of weapon deployment failure.

It's fine for people to look back over the last two years and say, "It should have been like this in the first place!" and froth at the mouth if it makes them feel better, but the real issue is that this sat unchanged for the better part of two years.

Not really, it's both. Two years ago the question of "what happens when there are super-cap blobs?" should have been addressed and answered. Even at the time it should have been obvious that super-capitals scale wonderfully and there would be a race to have the dominant super-capital force which would allow a small number of pilots to control massive amounts of space and block new entrants into null-sec space.

Though other than that CCP being able to watch the arms-race via the QEN and not doing anything about it is also inexcusable.

Completely agree. I remember reading an issue of QEN (probably about 18 months ago) where:
The number of Supercapital class ships produced was: 119
The number of Supercapital class ships destroyed was: 3
(those numbers are from memory)
That was the time for action.
