Removing players from your team after the end of signup dates

Will it be possible to remove players from your team after the signup dates ? or will they be locked in place.

Basically, if someone doesn't pull their weight on a team or for some other reason creates problems, such as being found to be a spy, selling setups and so on.... it would be essential to be able to kick them before the tournament starts.

Obviously this could be abusable, eg, a team wins and the captain kicks everyone so he gets a bigger share, so maybe have the ability to remove team members up until a certain amount of days before the first match.

Like you said, in order to prevent teams from kicking members after they have already committed a lot of time and effort we need to have a cutoff date after which players cannot be removed.
For this tournament we are setting that cutoff date at the end of signups tonight and players will not be removable after that point.
It is of course going to be somewhat abusable no matter which way we lean it, but the desire to win the cash should at least provide some motivation for each and every team member to contribute.

I think removal from team after signup cutoff should be allowable by petition.

Unless there's going to be a really specific way to organize the prize pool that isn't "equal" distribution, it makes no sense to require me to have people hanging on the team who decided to go inactive or otherwise couldn't meet time requirements for practice and preparation (or ISK/PLEX donations)

But we want to kick members who haven't put in any effort. Since own3d is dishing prizes directly to team members they would get money for doing nothing. We want to get rid of these people (one has quit eve entirely).

Yep this is still a problem for us.

1 of my members decided to quit from the team after the cut off date. I have put in a petition and so has he, but there has so far been no response.

Would be nice to have an official response on this either way because if a team mate genuinely quits the team it is ridiculous that CCP keep him officially on the roster.

i have the same problem with 1 of my team. he has not put one bit of effort in and has not logged in to game at all either but if we won he would get some of the prize money which is not fair to the rest of the team

Perhaps a fair compromise would be, people can be removed from the team voluntarily, but once removed no other player can be added?

Unfortunately you might be out of luck on this one. CCP has no way of checking that he hasn't contributed anything barring a direct admission from him. Doing otherwise would create a dangerous precedent for the everyone else, and I dont think they really want to go that route.

My only suggestion is admittedly somewhat distasteful. but your only real leverage is to threaten him directly with in-game consequences such as being kicked from corp/alliance. This is assuming that he values his membership in corp and you have the power to make such requests, of course.

Obviously players should always have the option to voluntarily remove themselves from a team, whether it be from some web interface or through petitions

You would think so Destoya, yet CCP seems to think once you're on the team, there's no taking your name off the list.

Tell that to all the dudes I've removed from their teams.

PS- I've removed most of these dudes from their teams. It would theoretically be a problem if a captain wanted to kick someone who didn't want to leave. Luckily we haven't had such a problem yet.
