pretty sure this is in the wrong place, sorry about that, but I couldn't find the linux section of the forum (I know it's not supported, but I have seen a lot of posts about it from here) anywho.. I had eve running flawlessly until I tried to "upgrade" to ubuntu 12.10 which ruined my whole system, so I reinstalled 12.04 and can't get past the eula, I get no text on the screen and when I try to scroll down, the game locks up. I followed the instructions on winehq, but I think I am missing a font or 2.. maybe

here's what I did
installed latest wine 1.5
winetricks corefonts d3dx9_36 vcrun2005 vcrun2008 vcrun2010
tried just copying the ccp folder to .wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86) and doing an install from the installer

I thought that was all I had done to get it working before.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I may have some driver issues too, I can't seem to get the latest catalyst drivers to install properly.. but that is for a different forum.

sorry again for putting this in the wrong spot

Hi liahm!
Since Wine 1.5 most of the winetricks are no longer needed. If I were you I would reinstall wine, then only install d3dx9_36 using winetricks.

When the EULA thing comes up, try just letting it sit for a while. It takes like 1-2 minutes for it to load on my system but it eventually does. If I try and scroll down before then it crashes on me.

That said if you are having video issues that might be related.
Good luck!

You don't seem to know that well how wine works. To me it seems you want him to start from a clean wine prefix (because you suggest that he only needs to install d3dx9_36), but for that you don't need to reinstall wine itself. Just deleting the .wine folder (or whatever other prefix was used) is sufficient.

Anyway here is what I suggest you do:
1) get your drivers installed properly
2) if you're sure your drivers are fine, then follow the steps here
3) If it still doesn't work, post your terminal output so we get a better idea about what is going wrong.

Good advice, I am going to try it. I was just about to start a thread asking why the EULA wouldn't load after I installed corefonts. I haven't played in linux since like 1.3 something but would really like to get it going.

Yep, that was the fix, thanks a ton.

The EULA takes forever to load whether its Linux or Windows. I think there is something seriously wrong with that.
