Where do i go now?

My Skills.

So, this character is primarily a miner. i have an alt that's getting itself in to an orca/also training mining skills.

However i've pretty much maxed out my mining yield and as such i have no idea where to invest my training time now. i have no real interest in combat or manufacturing. i'm quite content mining.

are there any support skills i should look at that i've overlooked? is there anything that will compliment my mining (that's not production, i genuinely have no interest in it)?.

any and all suggestions would be welcome. thanks.

Two I would recommend would probably be :

Energy Systems Operation - Any capacitor help is always a good thing

and

Mechanics - You never know, an extra few points on your hull could be a big difference

Besides those, id say build up the Navigation skill set some more, there always a benefit regardless of what you do.

hmm i should probably finish the shield skill too then, for the extra hitpoints.

a friend of mine kept nagging me about nav skills, so i got a few of those up to 5, especially the agility and sub warp speed skills. guess a few more wouldn't hurt.

cheers.

If you think that you will ever have a POS, get anchoring V then starbase defense management. If not, then more into drones, such as drone interfacing to 5 (so your drones hit a lot harder) and sentry drone interfacing to 5 (to use T2 sentry drones).

i won't be having a pos, ever.

i'm currently training drone interfacing IV, it's the only remaining skill i have left that increases mining yield.

how big are sentry drones? i like to keep a flight of mining drones with me in my mining ships so that only leaves me 25m3 of space in my drone bay, are sentry drones the same m3 as light drones? if they're any bigger than mediums then i simply can't fit a full flight of them in my ship.

Sentry drones are 25m3, same as large ones.

hmm i don't really think sentry drones are going to be worth training for, a set of t2 lights can easily handle any belt rats i come across. especially since i'll be trading 5 lights for 1 sentry

As your character is primarily a miner, then I'd only recommend light drones + mining drones.

However, my mining characters did eventually grow into other ships, and I leveraged their drone skills for those.

My "mining-only" character somehow became a Tengu, Basilisk, and Onyx pilot, and is heading for a Rattlesnake now.

i'm not surprised, i quite rapidly ran out of mining related skills to train, that's why mine are a bit all over the place (all racial frigs to IV, all racial cruisers to III, dessies to V, battlecruisers half done to V etc.) however now i'm almost out of mining skills where to go next is rather intimidating, sure i'd love to say i have a tengu pilot... but why? i have very little need to run missions, might just go for a stealth bomber because... why not? however i'm always open to more useful suggestions.

This may not be exactly the answer you are looking for but it is a simple way of making ISK when when you run out of skills you want to train for a specific character...

Start an alt character on your account and train them up so you can sell them on the character bizaar. Since you already know how to train up a miner, start there. Otherwise, take a look at what has been selling on the market and train a similar character. I used to sell miners about every 2-3 months to sell for plex while my mining character sat idle. I don't know if the mining changes and/or plex pricing makes this a good way of earning some easy ISK but thought I'd throw it out there.

while not useful for me, this may interest a friend of mine. He just started the game and just wants to be some kind of isk making monster without undocking, all the trade skills don't take long to train so this might be an option for him.

thanks.

All drone skills to 3-4 would certainly not be a waste. A flight of T2 drones are way way more effective with higher skills. Also your mining drones will be harder to kill.

Your trade skills could use some more work to reduce taxes and broker fee's when you sell your minerals.

Social skills and mining connections. If you want to build up you standing to reduce tax, level 4 mining missions will net you as much standings boost as most level 4 security missions. And can be completed way faster. I actually use mining missions to increase the faction standings of all my characters as I can complete 16 of them in just over an hour with three miners and an ORCA.
