Why would it not work this way?

I have a fit in EFT called "Alpha Tengu" where the tengu sports a 100mn MWD and the objective is to try to fly fast enough to land all of your missile vollies on a target at once (or close to at once). I think it's hilarious (also very impractical).

EDIT: Here is the fit. http://i.imgur.com/QMFoH.jpg

The CN scourge missiles fly at 8437m/s, and you fly faster, so just set your speed manually to 8437m/s as you approach from like 450km. At that speed, assuming you fire the first volley at your target when you reach 178.3km exactly, you can fire a bit more than 6 vollies of missiles before you crash into the target (at the same time as your missiles). So it's basically 6 vollies of 1936 damage, which comes out to be 11616 damage. About as much as a maelstrom, pretty good :P. I suspect the MWD may burn out before you finish your run--as you need to be at max speed at about 178km, so you'll have to heat it before then--but whatever.

I need to try this on sisi lol.

People used to exploit this using what were then called "cavalry Ravens".

Not sure what your question is; there's nothing controversial in your post. Framing it in terms of the Doppler effect might make this tough for pubbies to digest, though.
