Genuine question: If a player has their account hacked, and the hacker is responsible for the player losing all their stuff, will CCP reimburse the loss?

Because I can't think of any other possible way CCP would offer a reimbursement. I don't think they even reimburse losses from hacked accounts, but I might be wrong. Does somebody know the answer?

This happened to a corp mate of mine.

CCP were good enough to replace his stuff.

It's an unlikely scenario but this thread has been sitting here for a whiles now.

The ISD forum alt posted that there was no need for "tin foil hats" effectively a denial, but they scattered once asked to clarify this meant confirmation from CCP that it didn't happen.

WE, THE PEOPLE, DEMAND THE TRUTH!

Also if anyone has any serious concerns that the guy was reimbursed they should e-mail CCP's internal division. They'll check to see if he was and if he was that Dev/GM will get fired (or eaten, I'm not sure how employment law in Iceland works).

I'm really not concerned with that. I highly, highly doubt CCP would reimburse him for those items.

Among other things if they did reimburse him then EVE would have 3 more Hulk BPOs than it did before this guy got himself blown up.

I'll answer this first. It has been noted elsewhere that there are known errors when it comes to the distinction between BPO's and BPC's when they turn up on these killboard sites. For instance you can also find this same killmail listed on Battleclinic which shows a much lower value of around 33 billion ISK.

Now to other matters, I would ask that people discuss this matter sensibly, leave out any off topic comments like the two I have already removed, and remember to ensure that your tinfoil hats are firmly placed in the kitchen drawer or the bin, whichever is easier.

I have two questions then.

First one, I heard that it's pretty easy to fake a KM by editing it and then sending it manually and that in this case API verification may be passed as it does not check modules/cargo, only time, place and involved parties. Is it true?

Second is more specific to this situation. Let's assume that the guy in question spreads blatant lies about reimbursment. Given that such rumors can be pretty nasty for CCP position even if they are false, what is the official stance on spreading misinformation about actions of CCP GMs, Devs and other emloyees?

I think he keeps ignoring the fact that ISD is not CCP and does not speak for them.

CCP can do what they want to do. In theory. Probably they could discuss and decide to make exceptions. But CCP has made strict rules and regulations and from my experience they are hard, harder, the hardes to deal with. And because of this EVE is how it is: amazing, brutal, merciless.

My opinion: it's a lie. It looks to me like self-propaganda not to look like one of the biggest loser in EVE. "Look, I was a r*tard. But look, I got everything back. Hahahahaha." With one convo and a few hours later he got back everything worth 200bil? Dream harder. What about the taken stuff? CPP will reimburse the lost stuff and a copy of the taken stuff because the ppl was totally stupid but had 20 accounts? If so there might be someone at CCP risking his job.

No. I am sure that CCP would not reimburse even if this guy is running 100 accounts. When CCP starts to give priveleges to people paying more for the game they will present themselves als a bunch of corrupt assh*les and they would risk to ruin the whole game and their business. For one "I have 20 accounts - I am better than all of you"-id*ot moving 200bil in an unditted Atron in null-sec? LOL. LMAO. ROFL?

CCP would become absurd and noncredible by not respecting their own rules. Not to mention the upcoming finger and shitstorm. And we are talking about much more than 20 accounts. Blink

maybe I'm just too skeptical, but "API Verified" or not, I just can't imagine anyone being dumb enough for that KM to be real.
