There has been a rise in trolling on the newbie forums recently, which is rather distressing to see. I would like to point out that when you troll the newbie forums (yes, you!) you are directly harming Eve.

I know why trolling is fun, and I do it myself at times, too (mostly via sardonic caricatures of bad posters). However, sarcastically telling an old player that he needs more faction modules on his fit, or telling him to take a field trip to Rancer, is completely different than telling a newbie the same thing.

The new players who come with questions to this subforum are a sampling of the right kind of player we want in Eve for the game to grow: someone who wants to learn and grow, and isn't afraid to tap the already existing resources of other players to do so. By filling the subforum with crap, you are not only misguiding players who would help the game grow positively, but you are also discrediting the Eve community as a welcoming place that wants to grow.

The ISD has been doing a good job cleaning up things that pop up, but keeping at least the newbie forum clean is something we can all help do.

So, please: be respectful, be productive, don't feed the trolls, and report them if they come up.

Thank you!

I fully agree.

I hate reporting all the trolls and giving ISD a hard day by monitoring all the threads.

Keep it civilized and nice and keep the trolls in GDTwisted

I agree. Trolling a thread that deserves it is all good fun, but shitting up threads of new guys that really can't know better just stinks. Some for creation of idiot threads here.

Also, New Citizens is one of the few forums where a more rigid ISD presence would actually be welcome. Assholes like this guy just need to be banned from the forums as soon as it's clear that they don't do anything else but shitting up threads.

Right!! This forum used to be a nice place to come to get information!! Now we have to sift thru 6 pages of crap!! Would be nice if people looked at all of the forum topics also, we do not need 30 threads of nerf this and that. Suggestions belong in suggestion forum, ship and fits belong in ship and mod forum, off topic crap belongs in out of pod!!.

It is not hard to do, the average age of the EVE player is 27, lets show some that age on these forums!!!

I'm a nerd, you can check my stats!! Skilling Int/Mem at 45 sp per minute is how I mack!     I'm like a lapdog, all bark no bite.

As much as i agree, i feel sadly that it's a bit naive. The person (well there are many usually, of course, but these last days it has been much about one idiot) who is doing that is perfectly aware of what he is doing, so i don't think that explaining him how bad it is will make him stop. It's the activity of a sick mind who has found no better way to evacuate his frustrations. The only effective thing would be to redirect him to a forum of professionnal psychanalysts.

Nice OP and responded positively from the seasoned members that have helped me these first few weeks.

Thank you all.

I know, but reminding everyone to not feed the trolls and to rebuke them (rather than plain moving on and letting them be, or worse, helping them) is something others can do to help.

Totally agree with the OP, trolling is fun but New Citizens Q&A is not the place to do it. It's nice to see the constructive posters helping out in here, not so nice to see the odd troll and the idjit RMT poster yesterday (Props to ISD for being so prompt on the reported threads BTW)

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Same in the help channel, funny thing is that if I see someone trolling in help channel and I check him on KBs it shows that more often than not they're utterly useless at EVE, flying shitfits extraordinary and losing haulers in Rancer. So I guess they're just mad because they're bad at EVE they need to vent it. When I find someone like that in the help channel I uhm... subtly... state my findings, and that they'd probably be better off shutting up and listening to answers than to troll the channel. Sometimes it even works!

If the Help Channel is out of control with trolls or people file a petition and the GMs can handle it if a ISD:STAR member isn't online.

Oh come on, the same trolls troll for months on end, literally, I can name you quite a few (and have petitioned them over and over). They might get a warning and will come back a bit later. And even if, they'd just make a new alt and do it allover again.

Same here. I almost get discounts on petitions after the amount I've sent last month. Most regarding trolls on this part of the forums.

Why try to upset people in the noob forums? The only players that may bite are already immune to getting upset after answering for the nine hundredth time what a good exploration ship is....and "hey what's the bestest for pvp?". If you're trying to hurt the ISDs from what I understand most of them do it for a foot in the door at CCP so at best you're helping them look good and on the ball.

Good Job...and hey why is dude allowed to be called Boss Gay when Homo Jesus was against the rules?.... I want my name back you dirtballs!!!!

Very hard to regulate this.

Any one can get a free 14 day trial, and those people get instant access to this area of the forum. You dont even really have to start playing to get access to this area of the forum.

Just be vigilant. Thats all you can do.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.
